LOS ANGELES, July 23, 2012 -- Chosen By God: The Great Pharaohs of the 25th Dynasty sets out to reinstate the powerful black leaders of the Old Testament to Biblical history, scholarship and cultural discourse. This groundbreaking documentary, based on archeological evidence and historical authentication, tells the story of Egypt's dynamic black Pharaohs. Although an integral part of the Biblical Books of Isaiah and 2 Kings, these figures remain among the most under-celebrated examples of African heroism and hope.
Why has the story been downplayed for so long? That's the question historians, ministers, and archeological and anthropological experts explore in the 90-minute DVD. Looking closely at the facts and fiction surrounding ancient Egypt circa 700 BC and its greatest Nubian/Kushite Pharaoh, who saved the Hebrews and the Hebrew religion, as well as the greatest Nubian/Kushite Queen of the Nile, these authorities reveal what the film claims is the "greatest story never told." For minority cultures, which for centuries have sought to discover a complete history of their leaders, Chosen By God unearths a legacy of achievement.
Chosen By God, written by Lamont Roberts and directed by Mike Criscione, was funded by Reel Image Inc. (RII), a California nonprofit that supports independent filmmakers who foster an appreciation of cultural diversity by depicting images of positive role models and realistic portrayals of women and minorities. The documentary's producers Mike Criscione, Carl E. Dickerson and Lamont Roberts brought together a talented production and acting crew to create a film for a wide range of audiences, including scholars or aficionados of Biblical history, black heritage, ancient dynasties, religion and Egyptology.
In making Chosen By God, the filmmakers produced an invaluable tool for understanding the history of black leaders prior to the Mayflower, but another key impetus for making the film was to inspire black youth to achieve personally and professionally, and to educate greater society on minority leadership and their contributions to the evolution of civilization.
Along with the DVD, authentic replicas of the only Pharaoh to defend Hezekiah and the Hebrew people against their enemies are available for purchase through the film's official website, http://www.

What? What? To hear Hollywood tell it, everyone in Egypt (including Cleopatra) looked more like Russell Crowe (who is scheduled to play Noah in Noah's Ark) than Djimon Honsou or Angela Bassett. I like Russell Crowe as an actor, but this gate keeping mentally of Hollywood that keeps the truth out is just OLD and TIRED.

Historians, Ministers, Scholars and Colored Folks all have asked "Why has the story been downplayed for so long?" Answer: He who has the pen has the power and to the victor goes the spoils. Simple as that! "lets keep them dumb so they'll settle for crumbs" has been the motto of many white people -- but all goodbyes are not gone. Listen, Chosen By God: The Great Pharaohs of the 25th Dynasty, is sure to be highly entertaining and quite enlightening. It will be on my MUST SEE list. However, let me add a cup of coffee and a slice of dessert to this smorgasbord, as told by another black man. First man to die for the flag we now hold high, Crispus Attucks was a black man. The ground were we stand with the flag held in our hand, was first the red man's land. The guide of a ship on the first Columbus trip, Pedro Alonzo Nino, was a brown man. The liberty that we defend for with justice not for all men, history will repeat again. It's time we learned this world was made for all men. Heart surgery was first done successfully by a black man, Dr Daniel Hale Williams. farm workers rights were lifted to new heights by a brown man, Caesar Chavez. First clock to be made in America was created by a black man, Benjamin Banneker. The Scout who used no chart helped lead Lewis and Clark, was a red man, Sacagawea. But check game, if we listen to one voice we'd hear the great one line stories of the leader with a pen who signed his name to free all men, was a white man, Abraham Lincoln. And, she who led countless slaves to freedom on the underground rairoad, was a black woman, Harriet Tubman. Yeah right, we pledge allegiance all our lives to the magic colors Red, blue and white. But we all must be given the liberty that we defend to tell the whole story. For with justice not for all men, history will repeat again. It's time we learned this here world was made for, and by, all men. ~ Stevie Wonder. Why has the story been downplayed for so long? That's the question historians, ministers, and archeological and anthropological experts explore in the 90-minute DVD.

This is great stuff for white paint removal, and/or the dominant culture's xenophobia.

Good stuff..good stuff.... Question, which minority culture and minority leadership is being referred to? Will Smith has been trying to produce this project for several years now, a team of brothers by UCLA already have a completed script, and National Geographic portrayed the Pharaoh with a detailed story and an awesome cover.....its been been out there and known by our brothers and sisters not ashamed of their connection to the continent..just my flow..

Can we just have the stories of the great African rulers delivered from an just a historical aspect instead of with religious connotations.
