It appears that legendary right fielder Hank Aaron will be the next sports hero to have his life immortalized on film, as producers Mike Tollin and Glenn Rigberg have acquired the rights to his story.

Barry Levinson (The Natural) will direct the film from a script by Adam Mazer (Empire State), based on the Howard Bryant book, The Last Hero: The Life Story of Henry Aaron, says Variety.

The project is said to cover Aaron's 1970s quest to eclipse Babe Ruth's home run record, which he finally did with his 715th home run in 1974.

Tollin is also the producer, writer and director of the 1995 documentary Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream, while Mazer and Levinson previously partnered on the Emmy-winning biopic You Don't Know Jack, on the life of Jack Kevorkian, for HBO.

No cast has been identified as yet, so the next immediate task is finding someone to carry the role of Hank. Any ideas on who should star?

Of course this out of the question now but a young Ernie Hudson could have pulled it off. I'm sure if they'd made it in the 70s Ben Vereen may have been somewhere near the project.

I'm not too sure about the up and coming actors. But it should be a fresh face talented, unknown. Maybe Jermaine Crawford? Out of the semi-established set anyway. By estaablished I mean we've seen what he can do.
