As you probably already know by now, Matthew Cherry's feature film debut The Last Fall will make its worldwide debut at the SXSW Film Festival next month.

Now, some may think that just because the film got into a premiere festival like SXSW, the work is all done; it's smooth sailing from here; Matthew's film will debut, make a splash, get picked up for distribution, open on 3000 screens next year, win lots of acclaim. do well at the box office, and he'll sign a 3-picture deal with Sony Pictures worth millions.

RIIIIGHT! :)

The film has to first get through the circus that is the film festival circuit, starting with SXSW; and to do that, and do it well, money will have to be spent! And that's were YOU come in.

Matthew has set up a Kickstarter page to raise $15,000 which will go towards the film's premiere at SXSW.

The money will be used for the following: airfare and lodging for the cast and some key crew to attend the world premiere at SXSW; to provide a final master and dub for the festival so that they can screen the film at the festival; marketing, publicity, street team & final poster design; and payment for the film's composer to finish the original score and to cover music licenses used in the final film.

Not cheap!

As someone who's going to SXSW, I'll add, in support, that it is quite an expensive affair. So if you can contribute to Matthew's cause, please do so.

At the time of this post, 5:35pm on Thursday, the 9th of February, He's raised $648, with 30 days left to go.

CLICK HERE (or click within the widget at the bottom of this post) to be taken to the film's Kickstarter page, and give whatever you can.

Below is a video with Matthew talking about the fundraiser:

Well, since I'm always lamenting the fact that black filmmakers won't put 2 dark-skinned actors opposite each other...I guess I should put my money where my mouth is and support the brother for at least doing THAT.
