Henry Simmons has landed a recurring role in what will be the second season of "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Simmons will play an Agent Alphonso "Mac" Mackenzie.

In the comics, Alphonso MacKenzie (known simply as 'Al' or 'Mac' to his friends) is actually an older white man, based on what my research tells me. He's described as straight-talking and down-to-earth, serving as the C.I.A. liaison to S.H.I.E.L.D., known for his interrogation skills.

Season 2 of "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." begins on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 9/8c.

Simmons will next be seen on the big screen in Sony/Screen Gems' Will Packer-produced thriller "No Good Deed," which stars Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson.
