Details from the press release follow:

Indie filmmaker Dui Jarrod's film Lesson Before Love will be the opening in four cities as part of SMG With A Twist Alternate Programming at Studio Movie Grill locations.

The film will be released exclusively in Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Houston early October

Lesson Before Love is described as:

... the dramatic story of four unfulfilled singles’ journey towards love, while trying to find themselves along the way.

This is Jarrod's first feature film, after producing several short films, web series and traveling play productions.

"There’s no greater feeling then seeing all of your hard work come together. It has been so though for our film because we did have any stars, I’m thankful Studio Movie Grill supports great stories and believed in us enough to give us a limited release... People tell you all the time, all it takes is one person to believe in you for everything to change. Hopefully this is that moment. Actually, can’t stop smiling just thinking about the possibilities,” said Jarrod.

The film screened at the 2012 Act Now New Voices In Black Cinema here in NYC.

"...yet single and unsatisfied..." has almost become a cliched genre of black films in and of itself. That said, the plot was actually over-explained in the trailer; it would pop more if cut to 1:30 (with images, less dialogue). And dude playing Eric... lol... looks like Brother Mouzone from "The Wire."

I feel you but I actually saw this film at HBFF and I don't know why they cut the trailer like that cause the movie is sooooooo much better than what you think. It is really progressive and the dialogue I thought was brilliant. But I see your point with the trailer. The writing was definitely on point on this one.

Yes Mr. Head Coon Hunter, I agree. "cliched genre of black films in and of itself" says it all. Consequently, the plots are, for the most part, all the same. Heck, put them in a hat filled with "Think Like A Man", "Jumping Over The Damn Broom", "The Game", "Why Did I get Married" and the mountain of black versions of "Sex In The City", pull one out of the hat and there we will find "yet single and unsatisfied"... looking for love in all the wrong places and wrong thangs. Btw Adam, I hope you don't mind the nickname "Coon Hunter" that I pinned on you? It's just that, on several occasion when Tyler Perry's name was mentioned or one of his movies was the topic of discussion, you broke your neck in an effort to call that man the head "CoonFunkShunist" or something along those lines? Sometimes I laughed, and sometimes I just shook my head. Anyway, the old funky fart from the flatlands of Iowa has bestowed upon you, the grand title of "King Coon Hunter"! *lol*

I'm with you Turner. The clip is confusing, bland, said absolutely nothing, gave me nothing, and the synopsis is awefully cliche(ish).
