International Documentary Conference Call For Submissions From African Filmmakers

Good Pitch 2

The International Documentary Conference's Good Pitch² is looking for submissions to participate in this year's event. The deadline for applications is April 30th.

A partnership between Britdoc and the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program, Good Pitch² links filmmakers with NGOs, foundations, philanthropists, brands and media – around leading social issues – to forge coalitions and campaigns that are good for the films and good for society.

The event will take place from September 15 to 18 alongside the Tri Continental Human Rights Film Festival (TCFF) in Johannesburg. TCFF is an annual South African festival that focuses on documentary and narrative films from or about Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and the Middle East.

It aims to showcase outstanding cinema that deals with socio-political and human rights themes and to help filmmakers reach South African audiences. It is known as a diverse film festival that supports African talent and encourages dialogue between filmmakers, film themes and audience. It is the only human rights dedicated film festival in southern Africa.

It was founded by Rehad Desai in 2002 to spur the growth of the African documentary film industry through an annual celebration, and to unite the industry and community around storytelling.

Good Pitch² is an invitation-only event, starting with an intensive two-day campaign development workshop, followed by the day-long live event.

Entries are now open for African documentary filmmakers who believe their films can make a difference.

Films can be submitted if they:

•Tackle important social issues;

•Are at any stage from early production to completion;

•Are or will be 60 minutes or more in length when complete; and,

•Have a trailer ready for submission by 30 April.
