How this slipped past us, I have no idea. But along with all the new syndicated talk shows premiering this fall, from folks like Katie Couric, Jeff Probst, Ricke Lake (WHAT AGAIN?), Marie Osmond and, of course, the ladies' favorite Steve Harvey (which is already getting a major PR push from NBC Universal who is producing his show), there's another one set to make its premiere this September.

And that is, The Trisha Goddard talk show, which, like Harvey's show, is also produced by NBC Universal; and according to reports, as far back as this past winter, was already sold in 80% of all markets in the U.S.

Funny though, I haven't heard a thing about this show until now. Have you? Hmmmm... I would think that NBCU producing two talk shows with black hosts, would make some kind of news.

And who is Trisha Goddard?

She's from the U.K., but started her professional career in the late 80's in Australia as a news anchor, making her the first black person to ever to hold that job on Aussie TV. But she moved on from there, and hosted her very own popular talk show in the U.K., which ran on ITV until 2009.

During the run of the show, she was struck with a personal crisis, when she diagnosed with breast cancer, and while dealing with the disease, her show was cancelled by ITV, claiming that it was getting too expensive to produce.

However she's now cancer-free and ready to start up her U.S. TV career, which she says has been a long time dream of hers.

Judging from the promo clip below, she's part Oprah, Dr. Phil, Tyra Banks, Nancy Grace, and Maury Povich.

In fact, a whole lot of Maury, since she also was known for using "infamous tools like lie detectors and DNA tests" on her show. In fact she has even subbed as a guest host for Maury on his show.

Haven't seen any of those shows, but I'll bet hearing "You ARE the baby daddy!" sounds a WHOLE lot less ratchet in a British accent.

I have to agree with preceding comments. Low brow humor and lifestyle will irritatingly rise to the surface. And ratchet is as ratchet does whether it is in the USA or the UK. From what I've seen this women is just another Springer wannabe and the masses appear to thrive on the baby mama drama and misery of others. So as far as I am concerned, I will not be watching, especially with a parade of young, lost black mothers who do not know for certain the paternity. I pray that Oprah comes back to raise the bar b/c what was left in her departure was the most low class litany of programs which validate black people as a permanent underclass. We need black women who are going to show young women how to live spiritually clean and intelligent lives..so she and Jeremy Kyle can go trotting back across the pond b/c what they're bringing is just not cricket.

Trash with an English accent is still trash.

S&A already did a post about her show but I haven't seen any commercials or promos for it. She's very trashy. I definitely will not be watching.

I'm gonna have to pass on that CC, lol. If I were some wannabe actress trying to get any type of attention then maybe.... The only things those people get are a free hotel room, a food voucher, and the chance to act like a nut on tv but I guess some folks can be bought that cheaply.

I remember it, too. Same picture; every time I see it, I'm reminded of one of the flavor of love contestants.

You're right Jmac, I remember that post. And if my memory (fading fast) serves me well, she will be a successful black woman on american tv. I mean, those other purveyors of filthy pollinated fu*kery has managed to build strong careers off the backs of ragamuffins and kissing cousins, so why not give the English one, some? But I've always wondered where do they get those people who don't mind putting all their nasty laundry in the street? Then again, I wonder how much money it would take for me to show my ass in prime time? :-). They say there's a price for everything. Huuuuummmm, what about y'all? JMac, that reminds me, I have a suggestion. We could practice a "routine" of sorts. I can be your trifling babies daddy, with 3 fat and nasty white chicks on the side, who insists that our last child was actually that of the white mailman. And your defence would be that you've never made love to any other man in your whole life except me. Now, you write the rest to support your argument (you know, all ignant and stupid). Then the results come in....! We take the money and run :-). What ya think?

Trust me - you are the baby daddy sounds ratchet in any language... Trisha's show over here in the UK was a strange mix of Dr Phil in intention (she is very big on the value of the therapeutic process but her guests were of the MauryRicky class of people who wanted their fifteen minutes of infamy more than any meaningful dialogue with their SO.

Glad to see Trisha Goddard getting a shot state-side, Wishing her every success .

I've haven't read any where that this show was also part of new shows appearing on NBC Universal. By watching the clip of this show of Trisha Goddard show looks like it would be something to watch, the topics that were discussed in short on this show sounds like something that I would be interested in watching. Hopefully there is a due date for the this show on network.

Interesting, I think her show will do well depending on network and time slot.
