Director Marc Webb tweeted the above image of Jamie Foxx's Electro alter ego, Maxwell "Max" Dillon, who'll be playing villain in the upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spiderman.

I really didn't care for the first film in this reboot; frankly, I wasn't keen on a Spiderman reboot so soon after the last film in Sam Raimi's trilogy, which was terrible. Give other superheroes their own movies, and stop recycling the same ones over and over. The superhero universe is deep!

I didn't watch the last one in theaters; instead I saw a rental at home. But with Jamie Foxx as Electro in the next one, I just might see it in theaters.

The film is currently shooting in New York.

Last week, fans snapped the below photos of Jamie Foxx in makeup as Electro, apparently trying to blend in with the common folk.

There'll likely be some CGI added to the final composition of the suit to match the comics.

Electro's superhero villain abilities includes being able to store, project, and manipulate electricity with his body, as well as manipulate magnetic fields. Not only can he fly, but he can also travel along electricity lines and through electrical appliances!

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are returning with Marc Webb (who tweeted the above) returning to the director's chair as well.

Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the sequel.

The Amazing Spider-Man grossed $751 million worldwide, and the sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which will be in 3D, is set to be released on May 2, 2014.

I srsly don't get the negativity about Jaime Foxx being Electro. I love the guy, he's an awesome actor and i'm totally confident that he'll rock it.

I actually liked Andrew Garfield and The Amazing Spiderman, way more than the Tobey Maguire spiderman films. Emma Stone? Meh. I've liked her in other films, but not in this one. But I just gotta say: the award for the stupidest hair should go to Jamie for that pic. That is utterly idiotic. Why give him straight, wavy looking hair. He's black. I mean, damn, just let him have either the naps or no hair, either way it wouldn't look so damn stupid. Good lord. This pic alone is enough for me to save my $10 and wait until netflix.

Naps or no hair.....good job. Good dumbass job. Award for (hopefully) Unintentional Racist Remark goes to...

Why would the deciding factor to watch a film be based on hair? How does that prove any intellectual superiority over the key hair stylist?

Anyway, I've been hired on this project and I will say this is the first Spider-Man film I will definitely see in theaters. I won't go into details, but it should be great popcorn fun.

Yuck. I like Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone way more than I do Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, but this first movie was a major disappointment. Casting Jamie Foxx was not an encouraging move. I'll catch the second installment on Netflix.
