Jeffery Wright is replacing Forest Whitaker in the thriller A Single Shot, in a strong cast that also includes Sam Rockwell and W.H. Macy.

A search for an actress to play the female lead is underway; Jennifer Jason Leigh and Juliette Lewis were once in play.

To be directed by David M. Rosenthal, and based on a novel of the same name. the story centers John Moon (Rockwell), "a hunter who accidentally shoots a teenage girl while illegally poaching deer. Trying to dispose of her body, he stumbles on a small fortune, unleashing a tense and atmospheric game of cat and mouse between himself and the backwater criminals out for his blood."

No word on what Wright's (formerly Whitaker's) role in it is, or why Wright replaced Whitaker (likely a scheduling conflict); but I'd take either actor.

Principal photography began in Vancouver last week. Pic began shooting in Vancouver last week.
