Jimmy Jean-Louis

It premieres this Wednesday night (July 9), but I'm only just learning that Jimmy Jean-Louis will appear in at least a couple of episodes (out of 13 total) of CBS' new Steven Spielberg-produced futuristic thriller "Extant," which stars Halle Berry.

Details have been mostly underwraps on the project, but I can say that the Haitian American actor will play an astronaut named Pierre Lyon, next to Berry, who stars as a female astronaut trying to reconnect with her family, when she returns home after a year on a solo mission in space; Her arrival back on earth comes with the realization that she's carrying what is likely an alien baby (or something).

Goran Visnjic, Louis Gossett Jr., Sergio Harford, Grace Gummer, Camryn Manheim and Michael O'Neill all co-star in "Extant."

The script was penned by Mickey Fisher, who is executive producing alongside Spielberg, Greg Walker, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.

If you missed them, check out 3 previously-released looks at the upcoming series, behind and in front of the camera:
