Momentum appears to be on John Boyega's side currently, with a film he stars in, picking up an award at the just-ended 2014 Sundance Film Festival (Malik Vitthal’s drama Imperial Dreams), and being cast to play Jesse Owens in a biopic titled Race, from Forecast Pictures and ID+.
Today brings word that the actor will join the cast of Fox’s 24: Live Another Day, the next chapter in the hit franchise, which returns to a TV screen near you on May 5th, picking up the story 4 years after the series finale, which saw Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) as a fugitive, in London (where Boyega calls home).
No word on what role exactly Boyega has signed up to play, so stay tuned. When we know, so will you.
In the meantime, shooting on the Jesse Owens project he'll star in, is set to begin in May in Berlin and Montreal, with a spring 2015 release planned.
It's a project that has the backing of the Jesse Owens Foundation, and the Jesse Owens Trust, so it shouldn't face the same kind of hurdles that other recent biopics have had to wrestle.
Imperial Dreams wasn't picked up for distribution at Sundance, and no word where it'll next screen.
