Johnny Ray Gill (Harry’s Law, True Blood) has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming third season of the AMC’s The Killing.
Fans of the series will remember that AMC initially canceled the series last summer. The producers, Fox Television Studios, announced that they were attempting to shop the show to other networks, with DirecTV and Netflix said to be in the mix.
After some back-and-forth, finally on January 15, 2013, AMC and Fox Television Studios announced that the series has been renewed for a 12 episode third season. Production is schedued to start this month in Vancouver, Canada.
Johnny Ray Gill will play Alton Singleterry, described as "a low-level gangbanger who may be on death row but hasn’t let that dampen his spirit. While Alton may think he can dictate his own fate through manipulation and persistence, he will learn there are other forces in his world that can affect his trajectory in ways he could never have imagined before."
Gill, who received his MFA in Acting from the University of California, San Diego just 3 years ago, is relatively new to the business. According to his IMDB page, he burst onto the scene in 2011, with a series regular role on Harry's Law. So he's someone to watch,

This hot garbage show should have stayed canceled.

He earned an MFA only to go on to play a gang banger? *Sigh

A trend that needs to stop: men wearing grandma's earrings in both ears.

Good to see he's finding work after Harry's Law. Really wasn't interested in the show when they revamped it and got rid of his character. Reading the character description, I'm interested to see where this character goes on The Killing.
