He received an Obie Award for his portrayal of Black Panther Party co-founder Huey P. Newton in his 1996 one-man play A Huey P. Newton Story. In 2001, it was made into a made-for-tv film directed by Spike Lee.
In addition to Smith, we'll also get a film festival update from the man in charge, Tambay, who's currently attending the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Remember, join us HERE on Blogtalk Radio this Sunday at 4:00pm/ET. Don't forget to log into the chat room as well. If you have a question for Smith, please leave it in the comments section and we'll try to get to some of them.
Below is a clip of Smith playing Newton (who was born today) in the Spike Lee directed film version. See ya Sunday!
