With all the brouhaha surrounding Tyler Perry vs Spike Lee lately, this little tidbit almost slipped by us. It seems Keke Palmer--known for True Jackson VP, Madea's Family Reunion and Akeelah and the Bee--will be starring in the Nick Cannon produced film Rags.

She recently made the announcement on her website stating..."The idea came from Nick Cannon , he called my parents and said he had this cool script that he had been working on and he wanted me to read it, I was like cool, so we met he gave me the script and the rest is history! I loved the project so much that I wanted to be a producer on it as well..."

There was no elaboration on the details of the script but she does say ..."I have not done a movie like this since Jump IN" so one can probably assume this is a high impact dance and music film. Jump In! was a 2007 Disney television film she starred in with Corbin Bleu highlighting the sport of double dutch.

She further explains that she was able to make suggestions on the script and the music was being scored by Rodney Jerkins. Billie Woodruff is on board as director and he's known for the highly successful dance flick Honey starring Jessica Alba.

Until then, we can expect to see her in the Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton project Joyful Noise which is currently being filmed in Atlanta.

Billie Woodruff? Can't say I'm looking forward to this one, and Nick Cannon is even worse.
