It Is What It is

Last summer I profiled a new U.K. made short film, The Third Choice, made by a then 20 year old black British filmmaker Moses Ssebandeke, and produced by his brother Isaac Ssebandeke. And now Isaac is striking out on his own, writing and directing a short film titled It Is What It is, which sounds and looks pretty intriguing.

According to Isaac, his film, which he’s co-producing with Yrsa Daley-Ward, based on her own short story, and who will also co-star in the film along Clifford Samuel, tells the story of a pair of siblings “who only speak twice a year. We find them at the funeral of their father, a man whom they both greatly detested. Yrsa, our narrator takes us on a poetic black and white yet colourful animated journey of culture, religion and her larger than life family as seen through the eyes of her six year old self”.

But the film will incorporate animation for a film the filmmaker calls a "poetic journey."

And as with many filmmakers today, he has started a Kickstarter campaign to help him raise the funds to make the film.

Go to the Facebook page for It Is What It Is HEREand for the film's Kickstarter page go HERE.

Here is a teaser trailer for the film:

And here is an earlier poetry video Isaac made with Ms. Ward
