For you folks in LA who are free next week Thursday (July 12th) from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, and are curious, or just want to support the movement; besides, you never know - these two young men could be the future Hughes Brothers (or Will Packer and Rob Hardy, even though they aren't brothers, but you get my meaning) and then you can say, I remember when I saw their first film many years ago...:

Los Angeles, Ca – With the super success of The Avengers and the soon to be released “Super Man” and “Spiderman” movies, a group of LA kids decided to get together and create their own super hero short films. After hearing all about the cities recent crime problems the kids decided that it was up to their generation to come up with ways to take their neighborhoods back one block at a time. The public is invited to come out to the free screening and meet the cast as well as the film's young producers Lordz & Mesiya Kwarten.

The film shorts will screen:

When: Thursday July 12th

Where: The Los Angeles Public Library (Free admission for everyone)

The Baldwin Hills Branch, 2906 S. La Brea Ave. Los Angeles, Ca 90016

Time: 6:30pm to 7:30pm (meet the cast of each film in person!)

After the screenings there will be a free “Breaking into entertainment workshop” with award winning filmmaker Tim Greene. There will be over 50 prizes given away during the workshop including a home theatre projection system, mp3 players and 30 new cell phones.

I wish I was as together as these little guys when I was their age. I'm sure their parents are as proud of them as the rest of us. Examples like this should be held up for more young black kids to see as oppose to many of the examples they get.

This is awesome, I'm from Chicago and crime has taken over many of our communties with children as innocent victims. This is a great idea to kids involved and help them to realize that there is Life outside of the neighborhood, maybe this is something that can take off across cities in need. Good luck to the brothers!

With all the anarchy in the City of Chicago, and it been unfortunately nickname "Chiraq" because of all the senseless murder/violence, this is definately a postive move;-).
