Laurence Fishburne, who'll next be seen on the big screen in Steven Soderbergh's Contagion, has signed on to play Perry White, the Daily Planet editor-in-chief in the next Superman movie, Man of Steel.
Interesting selection here. First because White has always been portrayed as, well, white! Unless I'm wrong about that, and I'm sure all you comic book aficionados will correct me if I'm wrong. So, I'm sure fanboys and girls everywhere will lament this selection the way they bemoaned the selection of Idris Elba as Heimdall in Thor.
Oh well... :)
Although it's not what I'd call a starring role, so I won't expect to see him hugging screen time. But Fishburne is always a presence.
The Superman reboot is being produced by Christopher Nolan, directed by Zack Snyder, and stars Henry Cavill as the titular character.
The movie isn't expected until 2013, so we've got a couple of years to go.
