Another potential project for Lee Daniels' future slate; as we've already reported, over the last 2 to 3 years, since Precious, Daniels’ name has been attached to quite a few projects – Selma, Miss SaigonIcedAnna In The TropicsThe Butler, and, most recently, The Paperboy, which is in theaters, and not exactly lighting the box office on fire, or drawing lots of critical acclaim. It's Daniels in Shadowboxer mode - in retrograde.

And now this...

Daniels is said to be in talks to direct a long-in-development Janis Joplin biopic titled Get It While You Can, with Amy Adams attached to star.

THR says that Daniels is another director, next in line, after Fernando Meirelles and Catherine Hardwicke were previously attached, in past years, and Renee Zellweger was once attached to star in the independently financed project.

Will Daniels go from being "in talks" to actually signing on? Your guess is as good as mine. I think if the project is financed, and ready to roll, I think he'll jump in - especially if his other projects are in limbo.

Plus, Joplin's rather short life (she died at age 27), was a hard one, as she rode the 60s counterculture wave, the drugs and the alchohol that would eventually kill her at such a young age, and more. Daniels has suggested that he's attracted this kinds of stories, so this should appeal to him; and given Joplin's worldwide popularity and influence over the years, it should be something of a prestige picture.

At the height of her career, she was known as "The Queen of Rock and Roll" as well as "The Queen of Psychedelic Soul."

Producers are aiming for early 2013 production start.

This could be good for him in terms of his career. But he's very exploitive and I feel that's where he'll go with this film because it's easy to go there. We'll see.

"Daniels has suggested that he's attracted this kinds of stories..." I guess I'll play arm chair psychotherapist, because he seems to ONLY be attracted to these kinds of stories. The brother may want to consider something of lighter subject matter at some point his career.

I love Amy Adams and I think she's an amazing actress but isn't she a bit too pretty to play Janis? Yes, I know there is the sacred Hollywood trend of making these beautiful women 'ugly" but it always reads kind of condascending to me. Would it be so terrible to actually cast an actress who isn't so pretty? Plus, in terms of Adams' future projects i'd much rather see her make the "Object of Beauty" movie that was rumored a while back as well as "Dark Places." Also, mainstream or not, I'd like ot see her stay on with the Superman franchise for the sequels.

    What about Jackie Jormp-Jomp?

LOL. I was just thinking about Ms. Jomp-Jomp myself. One of the funniest eps of 30 Rock in my opinion.

Lee will probably want to use actual Joplin songs, so sadly, no Miss Jormp-Jomp.

I'd like to see Catherine Hardwicke do it. I find it worthwhile to have more opportunities for women in the director's seat. She's already done Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown, and the first Twilight. I think she can handle Janis Joplin. Plus there's the Texas connection. Catherine's from McAllen, Janis was from Port Arthur.

SACRED COW, I think it would be a wonderful project in some other person's hands, I could see KASI LEMMONS handling this if we stick with a Black director but there are so many others who should do this, keep it out of the hands of comic book directors and let indie pioneers take it. Like Cameron Crowe or Gus Van Sant or Bill Duke Julie Dash!!
