Now it’s official. Anchor Bay Entertainment and The Weinstein Company will release Lee Daniels’s The Butler on a Blu-ray and standard combo DVD set, On Demand cable and pay-per-view, starting on January 14th.

The film will also be available early in Digital HD on December 31.

Butler has earned some $159 million worldwide, and I don’t need to tell you that the film was at the center of lots of controversy, with both its defenders and detractors. If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s your chance to decide for yourself on what side of the fence you sit.

The blu-ray and standard DVDs, of course, will include several extras, including 2 featurettes - Lee Daniels’ The Butler: An American Story and The Original Freedom Riders - as well as Gladys Knight and Lenny Kravitz’sYou” and “I Ain’t Nothin’ No More” music videos, some deleted scenes and a gag reel.
