Leila Djansi's "Ties That Bind" Dominates At 2011 Ghana Movie Awards; Star Kimberly Elise Wins Best Actress Trophy

Leila Djansi’s Ties That Bind which co-stars Kimberly Elise (a film we've talked about quite a bit on S&A) cleaned up nicely at the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards, which took place over the weekend.

The film took home 9 awards, including Best Picture (overall), Best Actress In A Leading Role In An English-Language Film for Kimberly Elise, Best Editing, Best Directing (English-Language), Best Art Direction, Best Sound Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Movie African Collaboration

Congrats to the production team, both in front and behind the camera!

The well attended ceremony saw movie stars and filmmakers from across the Diaspora.

    Congrats to the team especially Kimberly. I really do hope that this can open more doors for her because for such a talented actress, it hurts me that she doesn't get as much attention as her counterparts. But, i hope that things will soon change. Shona Rhimes please add her to one of your shows.
