Actor Lennie James and singer Lionel Richie have both landed on planned programs for ABC.

Deadline is reporting that James has been cast in the ABC drama pilot Gotham, which centers on Detective Annie Travers, who is stunned to learn that New York has a whole secret magical history of which she (and everyone else) was hitherto unaware. James will play Gabriel Riga, the magnetic and wealthy CEO running for Mayor of New York City.

Deadline also reports that ABC has picked up Duets, a singing competition starring Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles, Robin Thicke, and Richie, as they travel across America looking for undiscovered talent.

I remember him from "Lie to Me". He stole the show. And they brought him back a few times. Very good actor. Hope he gets work that show cases his talent.

We absolutely love Lennie's work. Since he hit stateside many years ago he hasnt looked back and the fact that he went from hitting a glass ceiling in the UK to now consistently being cast in major US TV and movie projects says his talent is all around and very strong. Screen Nation recognised that back in the day and that swhy he is one of the few black british actors that have won Screen Nation best actor awards in film and TV categories. His part in this pilot sounds like one that he will eat up the screen with, we cant wait to see it. If it gets picked up we're sure it will have a lot to do with Lennie. Quote us.

The pilot is actually pretty good. Well, at least the magic part of it LOL But I saw Lennie as Walter Lee in A RAISIN IN THE SUN in London back in '01 & he was fucking phenomenal! Have always been a fan, SNATCH, HUNG, JERICHO (best thing on it IMO)-the whole nine! BTW, this role was originally written with a latin flair, so go figure.
