Lenny Kravitz will star alongside Christopher Walken in writer/director Dan Algrant's drama Little Rootie Tootie.

Likely named after Thelonious Monk's piano solo of the same name, the film will follow a family of working musicians, led by manic patriarch (and widower) Walken, a veteran jazz pianist, who's visited by his son, played by Kravitz (himself a musician, who's also married to a musician, who accompanies him on the trip home), as the eccentric trio deal with various internal matters that shake up the entire unit, even while they continue to put up a front, presenting themselves as a normal family.

Principal photography on the project which will be shopped at the American Film Market (AFM) next week, is set to begin in January in New York City.

River Bend Pictures, A to Z and Dalifey Ltd. are all producing the film, with Bonnie Timmermann and Steven Ray executive producing.

And, by the way, jazzman, and Spike Lee's favorite composer, Terence Blanchard, will be scoring and creating original music for the film.

I'm thinkin' this is gonna be a goodie! I'm serious, there's no doubt Lenny will put his soul in this because it mirrors his life.

His father was, as everyone knows, a white man. What some may not know is daddy was a rollin' stone. Because of his scandalous and womanizing ways Lenny left home at the age of 14. In other words, Lenny had little love for the dude. Not until his father was on his death bed did he forgive him.

Now I don't know if this story will follow that path but Lenny can act (he proved that in Precious) and Christopher Walken is a legend in his own right. So I'm in.

But I'm with Sergio on The Best Man Holliday. Only dudes who carry sugar in their pockets (or are pu**y whooped) will see that rum-dum-com.
