Some release date shifts over at Lionsgate HQ.

First, the release date for Stuart Beattie's I, Frankenstein, which stars Aaron Eckhart, has been pushed back 7 months, from February 22 to September 13, 2013.

I mention this news because, for those who may not be aware, I, Frankenstein is a big screen adaptation of actor/screenwriter/writer Kevin Grevioux's graphic novel of the same name. Kevin Grevioux is a black man.

You've probably seen some of his other work - the Underworld franchise of films to start.

Also, a few titles from Grevioux's DarkStorm Studios imprint have been optioned in recent years, like ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction, and The Gray Men.

Grevioux, a comic book writer and former microbiologist with a background in genetic engineering, said he based the original Underworld story on his experiences with interracial dating and the tensions that it often causes! Inspiration is everywhere, isn't it?

In I, Frankenstein, the creature finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries-old war between two immortal clans, in a present day dark, gothic metropolis.

Grevioux is an exec-produce on the film as well.

Taking over the February 22 opening slot that previously belonged to I, Frankenstein, is the Dwayne Johnson action thriller Snitch, directed by Ric Roman Waugh (mostly a stunt coordinator for several previous action films like Gone In 60 Seconds), which co-stars Michael K. Williams as a narcotics kingpin with a short temper who becomes involved with a man (Dwayne Johnson) who is turning DEA snitch to get his son a reduced prison stretch.

The story is said to be based on a PBS Frontline documentary. The project had been in development for years, and, at one point, Carl Franklin was too direct.

Snitch will is now set to be released on February 22.

We'll likely see trailers for both soon.
