The Pan African Film Festival (celebrating its 20th year this year) will honor award-winning actress Loretta Devine with its highest honor, a Lifetime Achievement Award for her work on stage, television and film.

The award will be presented during the Night of Tribute (produced by the Africa Channel) at 8 pm on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Rave Cinemas Baldwin Hills 15 at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza.

Previous recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award include Oscar-winner Louis Gossett Jr, Tony award-winner Phylicia Rashad, Emmy award-winning actor Glynn Turman, and award winning actresses Marla Gibbs and Dr. Della Reese, amongst others.

The ceremony will be recorded and televised by the Africa Channel, which is broadcast in major markets across the United States and the Caribbean.

I plan to be there.

she deserves it! she's been in the business for a very long time, i might not be happy with all the work she's done, but she can only work with what she's been given or had the opportunity to work with.

Right! She's a talented actress and a vet. Just think of what she (along with the other cast members) did with the ORIGINAL Dreamgirls. She's had many roles that showcased her skills. Anyway, congrats!

I'd better write a speech and get the tux dry-cleaned, assuming I'll be selected next year.
