Continuing with my series of films that will, no doubt, be of interest to everyone, but especially to S & A readers, Justin Chadwick’s Mandela; Long Walk To Freedom will be shown at this year’s 49th annual Chicago International Film Festival.

Toplined by Idris Elba and Naomie Harris, the film has gotten, so far, relatively mixed reviews; but all of them agree that Elba gives a towering performance as Mandela.

The film is scheduled to be released nationally in late November in the U.S., early January 2014 in the U.K., and in Europe from mid-December through February 2014, but readers in the Chicago area can see it at CIFF on Saturday October 12th at 5:45PM.

And, as I said with the CIFF screening of 12 Years A Slave, Mandela is sure to be a hot ticket screening, so get your tickets ASAP when they’re available.

Go HERE to find out more information on tickets, and over the next few days, I’ll be reporting on more films screening at this year’s CIFF, which runs from Oct.10-24.

Sergio, as Donald Trump would say "YOU'RE FIRED!".

Listen man, maybe I shouldn't make my move to soon but, that ticket information link is a joke. Well, not a joke per se but the phone line referred me right back to the exact same line I was calling on. And, as you know, the tickets going on sale today are reseveved for Cinema/Chicago Member only. So a Joe Schmo like me is looking in from the outside, unless I have a **coughfriendcough** like **coughSergiocough** who can get me the hookup.

I'm serious, the weekend of the 11th thru 13th looks real sweet to me but it appears general public tickets do not go on sell until Sept 21. Can I assume "12 years" and The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete... Fri Oct 11, 2013 at 6:30pm , and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom Sat Oct 12, 2013 at 5:45pm, and Spotlight Africa: Meet the Filmmakers and The George Tillman, Jr. Tribute will be sold out by then? If so, how can I possibly purchase ticket before the 21st?

Listen, money is not my biggest problem these day so I will pay (over and above the asking price) to play. You know, one can't put a price on happiness... so what sayeth ye?
