vin diesel

P.s. Marvel has requested a meeting... no idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me...

A tease from Vin Diesel, posted on his Facebook page earlier today. And of course, fanboys/girls across the web are all over themselves with speculation, wondering what Marvel would want with Vin Diesel.

In recent weeks, the studio has been announcing release dates for upcoming projects, through 2017, although they haven't revealed what each of those movies will be.

Some have suggested that Marvel may want Diesel for Black Panther. I say negative to that! I just don't see it.

Others think it might be Luke Cage. I don't see that either.

Dr Strange is another popular guess. If I knew more about Strange, I'd be able to comment on that possibility.

Another one is Vision, the android Avenger, which does have some support - a year ago, Diesel changed his Facebook profile pic to an image of the Marvel character.

Or, as others have guessed, maybe they want him to play a super-villain in an upcoming Marvel movie, like Thanos in The Avengers 2.

Or maybe it's nothing at all...

Marvel generally likes to keep these kinds of things underwraps, so Diesel making his meeting with Marvel public, probably will be frowned upon by the studio. I won't be surprised if the post disappears.

What do you think Marvel would want Vin Diesel for?

Vision or Dr. Strange are both good (guesses). Manymany actors will be called into Marvel/Disney HQ in the near future. Interested to see
what this results in for Vin

Vision is a good bet, considering that both Vision and Vin are bald (and share a V in their names...hahah). I think he would have to lose some wait to fit in with the tall, thin way Vision has always been portrayed. Otherwise, I could see him doing it.

It is definitely the voice of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy. Any other of these suggestions seems highly unlikely. It would be perfect, considering his work on Iron Giant.

The tree? That would be a bad financial move. They can find someone whose pay rate is much lower to voice a tree. If they have Vin in a movie, I would think that they would want his face to be seen. His looks/body are a large part of his appeal.

I'm surprised that Vin even mentioned such a top notch, secret meeting before actually starting serious negotiations.

I love Vin, but he is no Doctor Strange. Strange's story is really interesting, and it's about ego, skill and ultimately being made to be contrite. Actually Robert Downey Jr. would be perfect for Strange, but Marvel probably won't do it because he's now so closely associated with "Iron Man" and because Marvel doesn't want to pay Downey Jr.

No also to "Black Panther". Get Chadwick Boseman or Chiwetel.

Are they going for Luke Cage? They should at least allow Chad Coleman to screen test before they make a final decision, but it's all about money right? Diesel is a superstar, so they may cast him for something that doesn't even make sense just to bring in the coins......

    Rocket Raccoon?

@ ALM: I like that MarvelDisney is shooting GOTG first. It's a gamble, yes, and one that more studios should take. Cookie-cutter, bean-counting filmmaking is destroying Hollywood (and yeah people are OK with that), and creative chances are few and far between. I think since Avengers made Obscene $$$, MarvelDisney is feeling secure enough to take a chance. Maybe even Chances. Hopefully the trickle-down (I know) will benefit all actors and Filmmakers of color.

    Rick....oh the shade.......

I'm still trying to figure out how "Guardians of the Galaxy" was greenlit before some of the other projects. There are several Marvel characters who are a lot more popular and well known by the public than the guardians are. People keep saying that it is solely about money, but using a lesser known super hero team is a gamble.
