From Vivica Fox (years ago), to Lark Voorhies, Brandy... and now Meagan Good is another actress said to be interested in playing (or in the running to play) Whitney Houston in a film based on the late singer's life.

But Meagan says she got reasonably close because she and Houston were in talks (before the singer's death) about Good starring in a Whitney biopic.

"We were fairly in the beginning stages... We were supposed to meet today actually,Good told EOnline last night in Hollywood.

Interesting. I can't immediately picture Meagan Good as Whitney Houston; but Whitney clearly saw something that I don't.

Good added, "My feeling is because she has the film Sparkle coming out and she's brilliant in it and she looks beautiful and healthy, my feeling was that's how we should end the movie—as a new beginning for her," in reference to how the film would end, given Houston's recent death.

Good also said she wouldn't sing in the film he flick, stating, "I don't think we've ever had a singer in history that I remember that could sing like her... Plus, when people see someone's life story they want to hear that person's voice because they connect with it, in their spirit and their soul. So you would have to use her voice."

She speaks almost as if the project is/was a done deal, and is indeed going to happen.

But this is all news to me.

Eve, should play Whitney, she can act, sing and she has some of same strong personality traits of Whitney, as well as looks. Eve knows the good and the bad of the music industry.

  • 0000 | March 13, 2012 10:53 AMReply

or maybe Demetria Mckinney she has a very beautiful voice.

  • Carwalker | March 8, 2012 10:44 PMReply

I have been watching Tamara Gray on video. She did one of Houston's song while she was on "Boston Public". It was as if Whitney Houston was in the room. I personally like it when the real actress sings BUT her voice sounds like the one being portrayed. Megan Good can't give you that but Tamara Gray can. Look on YouTube and tell me what you think.

  • nothing | March 4, 2012 3:50 PMReply

    maybe Shannon kane

  • Tee | March 8, 2012 9:00 AM

    Very strong young actress

  • I THINK PAULA PATTON IS THE PERSON THAT SHOULD PLAY WHITNEY IN THE SINGERS BIO PIC | March 3, 2012 3:29 PMReply

I THINK SHE LOOKS LIKE WHITNEY AND WOULD B PERFECT FOR THE ROLE

  • SHEILA | July 27, 2012 2:02 PM

I agree that Paula Patton looks like Whitney Houston and if anyone should play Whitney, it should be her.

  • GHJKL | March 3, 2012 1:58 PMReply

Joy Bryant would be PER-FECT. I love Meagan good but I don't think she can pull it off.
Paula Patton really does look like Whitney and she's a strong actress but then again, I don't think she can pull it off. Remember Karyn Parsons who played Hilary on the Fresh prince of bel air ? She used to look like whitney A LOT. But yes, I think Joy Bryant would be absolutely perfect

  • Tknow987 | March 3, 2012 8:54 AMReply

I think Joy Bryant would be perfect for a Whitney Houston role... She has exact facial features and body type as her.... Now if she can sing?... Who knows .... But lip syncing can take care of all that... If she can't!

  • Charise | February 29, 2012 5:51 PMReply

What ab0ut T-Boz, from TLC? But I don't know if she's ever acted before.

  • regina | February 29, 2012 2:39 PMReply

paula patton favors a younger whitney, just add a little makeup to match the beautiful whitney houston skin, im just devasted, about whitney i love her so much, just
    a real loss

  • regina stokes | February 29, 2012 2:33 PMReply

paula patton looks like the young whitney and she can act please pepole paula patton it would be fitting to portray whitney houston to beautifull women

  • nola | February 29, 2012 12:39 AMReply

Joy Bryant looks just like a younger Whitney and she can act, I hope she is considered for the role. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0117146/

  • Vivian Pegues | February 28, 2012 8:21 PMReply

Whitney Houston was astounded, overjoyed and excited when she listen to Jennifer Hudson sing I Will Always Love You to her when she was honored by BET. If Whitney Houston a true "Artist" approved of Jennifer Hudson's singing voice, her opinion should be rated number (1) one.

  • Akimbo | February 28, 2012 11:31 PM

But...Aretha Franklin wants Halle Berry to play her; shall we honor that, too? Regardless, I'm sure there were several of young singers and actresses Whitney admired, so who's to say that J-Hud would have been her choice?

  • Donella | February 28, 2012 7:32 PMReply

Someone suggested KeKe Palmer in another thread. I could support that.

  • DRT | February 28, 2012 4:09 PMReply

How about Tamyra Gray from American Idol. She has believable acting chops and she can sing a sang song! She grew up in a church chore singing gospel. She is married and has a child. She is pretty enough and if she is not tall enough. Put her on a apple box and call it movie magic.

  • anon | February 25, 2012 5:25 PMReply

Why not nicole beharie she has the body type and is a great actress plus she looks a little like a young whitney.

  • Muse | February 26, 2012 7:48 PM

Not that this would necessarily be a dealbreaker, but Nicole is about 5'1 while Whitney was 5'8.

  • melissa | February 25, 2012 1:18 AMReply

I wouldn't believe Megan Good as Whitney Houston..We deserve to see someone who is a strong actress to portray the roll of one of our National Treasures. Please, if it counts for anything get great actresses like Kerri Washington, or Regina King..and I even believe with the proper coaching Joy Bryant could pull it off...To me she is the most similar in looks, and I would believe it if her acting is strong and raw...This biopic needs to be Great..Something we will never forget...like the movie "Ray". They did an excellent job with this film..I hope the production team can step up to the plate...and bring Whitney's story to life on film in a moving believable way...Wonder who would play Bobby Brown? Kevin Hart..lol

  • Muse | February 26, 2012 7:51 PM

Kerry Washington...hmm...powerhouse actress, lots of name recognition AND can play her at different ages (unlike Vivica, who couldn't pull off a young Whitney). Bingo!

  • carmen | February 24, 2012 11:33 PMReply

watch video girl...meagan good does an outstanding acting job...she could play whitney

  • JACKIE | February 23, 2012 5:42 PMReply

I CAN THAT HAPPEN ???don't you want some one that can act and not the same person in every movie....new blood make it worth her LIFE

  • Nadine | February 22, 2012 9:35 PMReply

I kind of get that Joy Bryant has the body type and complexion, as some have noted, but she has always been so bland. I just wouldn't believe it, but that's just me.

  • Nadine | February 23, 2012 7:35 PM

...and don't sleep on the BX missy! ;)

  • Nadine | February 23, 2012 7:32 PM

I like her, but thought she was bland in Antoine Fisher as well. I've been keeping tabs on the Parenthood too. She plays low-key in a way that I can identify with, but can't imagine her pushing herself successfully. I really think a no-name could blow this role up instead.

  • BONDGIRL | February 22, 2012 11:18 PM

I saw Joy last night on Parenthood, and I get the feeling she can do better. She is from the Bronx, so there has to be some childhood pain she can pull out lol

  • jmac | February 22, 2012 6:34 PMReply

I'd give a shot to Megan Good and Joy Bryant. Vivica would work if it's not a soft biopic. Hell no to Rashida and Paula. Hudson looks and sounds nothing like Whitney.

  • Nadine | February 22, 2012 9:33 PM

Thank you B for both posts... I thought maybe I was crazy.

  • B | February 22, 2012 6:54 PM

Oh, and I should add: JHud, as an actress, is about as compelling as watching paint dry. Imo. Same for Paula Patton.

  • B | February 22, 2012 6:52 PM

Please fix the spam filter. And yes, I can't even believe people are suggesting Paula Patton and JHud. Really? Joy Bryant or an unknown - that's the only way to go.

  • jmac | February 22, 2012 6:35 PM

They seriously need to fix this spam filter.

  • Cali | February 22, 2012 4:58 PMReply

of all the suggestions made here, the only one I can get behind is Joy Bryant - she could pull it off.

  • 3000 | February 22, 2012 4:14 PMReply

    What about Wendy Raquel Robinson??

  • melissa | February 25, 2012 1:22 AM

Oh yes! Wendy could do it..she's similar in appearance and tough like Whitney..

  • Muse | February 24, 2012 1:58 PM

I don't even know who Wendy Raquel Robinson is, but when I googled her image, her energy screamed YES. She has the same zest-for-life twinkle in her eye that Whitney possessed at her height.

I know of Nona Gaye, but I didn't know what she looked like. When I googled her image, I saw the strongest physical resemblance out of all the suggestions thus far in this thread...but her energy comes off as more subdued, even a little dour. It'd be interesting to see if she could pull off the feisty, whimsical, sassy-edged class of Whitney.

I think Vivica Fox would have been the obvious choice (even with all the plastic surgery) given the personality that she projects, but it's hard to imagine her pulling off a younger Whitney given her age. She's only a year younger than Whitney.

  • Xi | February 22, 2012 8:38 PM

    Another great suggestion!

  • Kia | February 22, 2012 2:33 PMReply

Love Meagan and I think she's an interesting young talent, who does deserve challenging fare... however for a biopic on Whitney--an unkown all the way. If there MUST be a familiar face, I'd at least give Joy Bryant a screen test.

  • ms.stone | February 22, 2012 2:21 PMReply

    No.

  • Donella | February 22, 2012 12:01 PMReply

    Nona Gaye?

  • Xi | February 22, 2012 8:37 PM

    YES! This ^

  • Nadine | February 22, 2012 12:12 PM

Whoa... NICE CHOICE! She'd have to drop like 40 lbs, but interesting! Especially the Gaye connection. I think her story, unfortunately, mirrors Whitney's as well. Her face is like an exaggerated Whitney... nice! I could totally see her *drum* "..and I!!!" panning out. Really nice, DONELLA!

  • Remy | February 22, 2012 11:39 AMReply

...rashia , zoe , paula is to light... Whitney is brown
Skin.....now the brown skin girls viv fucked up her
Face dnt wany that to play her
Brandy dnt think she got the ummp
But megan good is perfect to play it idk how tall
She is but I believe she can look lik her and
Play the part....no shade on wat I said but jus sayn

  • Nadine | February 22, 2012 11:28 AMReply

An ingenue please. There are so many talented actresses we have yet to meet. I knew enough actresses who had the height, similar features as Whitney and the skill. Meghan is adorable, but her features are very strong and are somewhat signature to her. I like her as an actress, but sometimes I just end up thinking to myself, while she's performing, "huh, she actually looks like a a doll".

  • Nadine | February 22, 2012 12:07 PM

I think the Whitney name will draw the attention the same way an unknown could play MJ. Angela Bassett wasn't mainstream until she played Tina Turner. Could be the role of a lifetime. Maybe the Bobby Brown character could be the "name".

  • Micah | February 22, 2012 11:33 AM

If they put an ingenue in, they'll need to but some Names in supporting roles to as a little extra guarantee of box office and attention.

  • Suzanne | February 22, 2012 11:25 AMReply

Only Vivica Fox has what it takes to play Whitney. Remember Viv started off as the black sensation who catapulted to mainstream because of Independence Day. She fell off and has had a few embarassing moments like Ms. Houston later on in her career. Let's be real. Viv understands Whitney. She can be poised at times, and then she can be sassy and throw down just like Whitney. They have similar personalities. All this talk off other possibilities is just ridiculous. SOMEBODY CALL VIVICA FOX NOW! This could be her comeback role.

  • Donella | February 22, 2012 11:59 AM

Vivica has a similar spirit and personality, but the facial alterations would distract. Also, could Vivica forget Vivica to become Whitney. Not so sure.

  • Barbara | February 22, 2012 11:16 AMReply

Jennifer Hudson is beautiful and has the "pipes" to do the singing; and she can act too. My choice.

  • Sirrom | February 22, 2012 8:21 AMReply

I believe Zoe Saldana would be a great choice for the role.

  • 3000 | February 22, 2012 8:02 AMReply

Paula Patton is the only person that should play Whitney imo...

  • Ali | February 29, 2012 10:35 AM

The only thing I see about Whitney in Paula Patton is maybe the smile. She really doesn't look like her at all. What in the hell are you all seeing? Am I blind? Am I slow? I genuinely cannot see it. And I refuse to agree with putting makeup foundation on an actress to make her look darker for a movie. How offensive would that be? They might as well get some unknown that looks JUST like Whitney since Paula Patton wouldn't exactly make butts rush to the theater. The look or voice isn't even the most important part in the casting and I don't think Paula Patton cuts it.

  • N | February 29, 2012 9:13 AM

A lost people. So very sad.

  • Delphi | February 29, 2012 4:22 AM

I totally agree, PAULA PATTON should play Whitney Houston, she looks so much like her and has some similar mannerisms like raspy voice when she talks...it's a movie not a show so she will be talking more than just singing...Why does it have to be an actual singer? or someone who was 'close' to Whitney Houston? The movie could be like Selena with Jennifer Lopez... they just dubbed over her singing voice and it was believable. Google Paula Patton and see how she smiles like Whitney =) ... and as for Patton being 'lighter' than Whitney, well that's what make-up foundation is for... she has the 'features' and can pull this off.

  • Akimbo | February 23, 2012 7:20 PM

Who ARE these people who keep suggesting Paula Patton and Rashida Jones? Neither bears even a passing resemblance, Paula is a wack, unconvincing actress, and Rashida (though I like her) has a kind of dour style that would not work for playing Whitney. Y'all gotta stop with that; might as well be suggesting Angelina Jolie!

  • Donella | February 22, 2012 11:58 AM

Paula Patton, maybe. She has similar features, style and build.

  • Nadine | February 22, 2012 11:28 AM

...sorry, I'm just a little shocked.

  • Nadine | February 22, 2012 11:23 AM

Wait... are we on candid camera? Paula Patton? This has got to stop... I don't understand.

  • Anton | February 22, 2012 8:45 AM

Yep! I totally agree. Paula Patton looks a lot like 80s Whitney Houston. She may be a little lighter than Whitney, but the features between the two are very striking.

  • Love | February 21, 2012 10:56 PMReply

I can see Brandy pulling it off with the proper training. They were close and they worked closely together in the past. She might have the best insight.

  • Boomslang | February 22, 2012 8:17 AM

Megan can only play teens convingly. imo the only actress who could pull this off would be Rashida Jones.Rashida has the modellesque allure of Whitney and she is an actress. Those girls needn't learn to sing. They can't.If they cast Megan as Whitney , they as well cast Flava Fav as Bobby Browwn.

  • Brandon | February 21, 2012 9:48 PMReply

I love Meagan but I think j HUD would be a better choice

  • Jules | February 21, 2012 9:47 PMReply

If you're going to do it, you have to cast Joy Bryant. She looks like her, she's tall, and she could pull it off.

  • Margo | February 22, 2012 2:30 AM

    So true!

  • B | February 22, 2012 12:17 AM

I agree. Plus, Joy has a quiet sort of classiness about her that Whitney had more often than not.

  • Rota | February 21, 2012 9:08 PMReply

Epic miscasting. Houston and good are very pretty women but look nothing alike. Besides withney was tall and slim. Good is short and curvyish

  • Darkan | February 21, 2012 9:01 PMReply

@ JAI Agreed!!! Not!!! Unknown please!!!

  • Clomax | February 21, 2012 8:31 PMReply

Pretty actress with name recogntion who could pull it off. I'd like to see some tests.

  • Jai | February 21, 2012 8:29 PMReply
