For the first time, Meagan Good has landed a lead role as a regular in a TV series!

According to Deadline, in the Universal TV and BermanBraun's NBC drama pilot Notorious, Good will play detective Joanna Locasto, in the series described as an "opulent soap."

Written by Liz Heldens, Good's character goes undercover as the housekeeper's daughter into the family she grew up in to investigate the murder of her childhood friend - celebutante Vivian Lawson.

Good can be seen this season in Showtime's Californication. She also co-stars in Dysfunctional Friends, currently in select theaters. She will be seen next on the big screen in Think Like A Man, which hits theaters April 20th.

There are several pilots from major networks headlined by Black actors. Among them are Cuba Gooding Jr.'s starring role in Fox's Guilty Pilot,  Andre Braugher in ABC's The Last Resort, and Kerry Washington's upcoming ABC series Scandal. There have been also been numerous announcements the past few weeks of Black actors cast in pilots' supporting roles.

It seems like things are looking up for actors of color working on television. Let's just hope these shows garner healthy ratings to stay on the air. Which reminds me, I should really plan on watching and keeping track on these shows.

Congrats to Meagan! and I am super excited for Cuba and hope that Fox picks up the pilot guilty. That's definitely going to be an intriguing show. Maybe the name Guilty could be changed a tad bit but I will be tuning in regardless

Wow I am very happy to hear this news and I hope this is Meagan's breakthrough. Despite what some people may say Meagan is a good actress when she gets the right material. She was excellent in Eve's Bayou and Brick.

Finally....a legit acting gig for her! Good! I hope the show takes off :)

I'm shocked. It's like Meagan Goode's people suddenly decided to wake up and do their jobs! Or maybe Jurnee Smollett smacked some sense into her former co-star. To go from playing the throwaway sexpot in every other project to this? Major come-up.

Maybe it's Hollywoods attempt to have no black actresses in feature films..put them all on TV:(

...I guess. Give someone months of prolonged screen time and you don't have to pay them for a 2 month shoot and no more than 90 minutes of screen time? Your comment really makes a case for people who say that you just can't satisfy black people. I mean, take issue with the concept, character, or script, but not with the fact that a black woman is a full-on lead of a network series.

great news for her..I just hope she tones done the sexy vixen thing she does in almost every movie. Lips, tits and ass may work for the BET movies...a tv series is a whole different ball-game.

Good for Megan. Ahhhhhh..."THE HELP", the gift that keeps giving. As far as women of color this season, they are predominate in two shows: "Bad Girls" which is set in a maximum security prison and "Devious Maids"! What? I didn't say anything.
