And for those who may not be aware, she's been dating George Lucas for about 5 years now. She's also president of Ariel Investments, LLC, a Chicago-based investment firm managing over $3 billion in assets, and one of the largest African American-owned money management and mutual fund companies in the United States.

Props all-around!

Y'all crack me up. Where's the outrage when Stedman Graham is "Oprah Winfrey's man" in a post that was about Stedman's accomplishments? Or when Eric Benet is "Mr Halle Berry." Crickets. Talk about a double standard.

The fact that this post starts off with her dating life is pure sexist drivel. Is Beyonce mentioned in Jay-Z posts related to his accomplishments?? And people wonder why someone white in Hollywood only sees you one specific way.

I'm completely agree! The fact that she's managing a billion dollar company should be the intro not the secondary leading sentence. Everybody know she's dating George Lucas so I find it quite demeaning that the writer of the article would make it the first thing that people read. Your writing for Shadow and Act not " Lights and Act". Melanie deserves a better article.

Good for her! I should make a poster to put on my daughter's wall.

This is awesome news! However, it bothers me that both sites where I have seen this news reported felt the need to either mention who she's dating or her marital status/absence of children. Ms. Hobson is one of the most powerful women of color in America, period. Much continued success to her.

I agree @JENI, this is wonderful news but who she is dating is irrevelant. It always gives the hint of lucky her to be with him. Sorry Melody is the bomb, and Mr. Lucas is lucky to have such a beautiful, classy, sister by his side. Very proud of her.

It's that persistent meme that successful women, especially black women, can't have it all.

I agree...it almost seemed a bit, negative when I first read it; i don't know....anyway; must props to her though.
