On the heels of its rousing LAFF screening last night, The Weinstein Company has released a brand new poster for Ryan Coogler's multiple award-winning feature film debut, Fruitvale Station, which is based on the 2009 murder of 22-year old Oscar Grant (played by Michael B. Jordan), and which co-stars Octavia Spencer, Kevin Durand and Melonie Diaz, with Forest Whitaker producing.

The film is set for a July 12 theatrical release. I expect an initial major-market roll-out before a gradual, broader screen expansion.

Zeba Blay reviewed Fruitvale Station for S&A after screening it at Sundance; In short, she dug it. Read that review HERE.

Expected to be one of TWC's Oscar contenders this fall, here's the new poster from TWC for the film, courtesy of Yahoo:

I like this poster MUCH BETTER than that last "impressionist painting" poster of a poster.

It's funny you say that because I actually liked the first poster the best.
