  @CareyCarey and ALM -Thank you both and yeah I don't know anything about the gay fan base, but it's good to hear he's a trooper regarding the Magic Mike segment and I too was always bothered by that voice of Ripa's she sounds like she is straining.

  I am so happy to hear this...for months I've been wondering if they were going to make the "safe" choice (bland as white rice Seth Meyers) or a true personality. He is so comfortable in that role, and I love watching the show when he's on. They are going in the new direction of daytime tv, which is more of that young "Ellen"-type format-they brought in a DJ, new set, and now Strahan. This is not necessarily for the Regis fans, but they're going after a younger demographic, which means increased advertising and sponsorship. Between his impending marriage to Nicole Murphy and this gig, he is having the best year ever. I'm ALL IN!

  I don't know about this- I don't know too much about him at all, not being a football fan(I used to play the round pro leagues around town) But will this work, this show's fan-base is a ardent 92.1% White and Slightly older, slightly Urban mostly Suburban, almost the same fan-base that despises Obama. Is he Non-Threatening, are they going after a new demo by adding him. Or is he a superb host with skills that vastly underrated- This is where I get educated by the S&A folks!!! Some body hip me to the facts please?

  Leon, I understand your reference to Obama's haters and there closed-minded opinions. Yes, many of them are straight-up racists, but as Mark said, that's definitely not Oprah's fan base. Racists don't want anything to do with anything black, even Oprah. Is Strahan "safe"? I'd say yes. He smile alot and his opinions are "safe". He's engaged to Eddie Murphy's ex ( I believe they're engaged?) so that's a "safe" bet for various reasons. Also, I've never seen him on anything other than sport's programing and tv commercial, but in those shows he showed quick wit and comic timing. Hopefully Kelly will not be intimidated by his popularity and thus try to hog the mic. Speaking of Kelly, I don't know anything about a gay fan base. How does vacationing with Anderson Cooper and his boyfriend equate to that? More importantly, are "gay folks" the dynamics of early morning TV? Btw, that reminds me, was Kelly really the draw? Wasn't she basically Regis's sidekick... if you know what I mean? Personally, I think she has an annoying voice, is phony and fake and uninteresting.

  @ Leon: What I can say from watching him cohost several times is that Michael has a great personality for tv, seems to volley back and forth well with Kelly no matter what she says, and he is open and willing to do a lot of what is asked of him. When "Magic Mike" was released, they got him to strip down on live morning tv.

  Who do you think was Oprah's fan base? Oprah's viewers were majority white women. Just because someone doesn't like Obama doesn't mean that she hates all black people. Moreover, Kelly Ripa has a large gay fan base. She was photographed on vacation with Anderson Cooper, Cooper's boyfriend, and Andy Cohen. So, I'm not sure about your analysis of Live's viewership's political demographics.
  
  Strahan has been a frequent guest host on Live with Kelly. He's been tested extensively.
