We're on Mo'Nique watch, thanks to interest from some of you, who've been wondering what the actress/comedienne has been up to, given her relative "silence" since winning her Oscar for Precious, and the cancellation of her BET late night show.
"Was she blacklisted?" is a question I've seen asked from time to time.
So what's Mo'Nique up to now? Well, she's going to be appearing on a TV screen near you in about 2 weeks, when she'll host the two-part reunion for the current New York season of VH1's hit reality series Love & Hip Hop NY.
On Monday, January 27th, VH1 wrapped up the highest rated season yet of the series with a finale that scored a 2.0 in the key adult 18-49 demo and attracted 3 million total viewers. When combined with the 10:00 PM ET/ PT encore, 4.2 million total viewers tuned in to the season four finale on VH1 Monday night.
For a series I've never actually watched, those are some strong numbers for a cable TV network like VH1.
VH1 is continuing that momentum by picking up a fifth season of the series, to begin production in New York City later this year. Additionally, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta will return to VH1 for a third season in May 2014.
The two-part reunion special for the current New York season, hosted by Mo’Nique, will air on February 3rd and 10th.
I suppose this is what life is like after winning an Oscar.
