His feature film directorial debut now in the home video market (on DVD and VOD) as of last week Tuesday, Qasim Basir has officially begun prepping his next film - a drama titled simply Destined.

Little is publicly available about the project at the moment. Not even a full synopsis. Just the tagline you see on the cropped poster art above (full poster below), which reads "One man. Two stories. One choice that changes everything."

Maybe we can expect some exploration of Du Bois' "double-consciousness" concept... maybe not :)

No casting yet announced, although the film is expected to be released in 2012.

A Facebook page has been created for it, which you can "like" HERE; and there's a Twitter account for it as well, which you can follow HERE.

You'll know more when we know more, so stay tuned.

Glad to see filmmakers from the 2011 Shadow And Act Black Filmmakers To Watch list like Qasim and Ava DuVernay, moving right along into their sophomore efforts, after successful debuts.

This week is starting off with promise. Can't wait to see what else develops ;)
