First, the good news...
FOX has picked up a new cop comedy series titled Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which Andre Braugher and Terry Crews co-star in, alongside Andy Samberg in the project from Mike Schur/Dan Goor, directed by the co-directors of 21 Jump Street (the movie) - Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
The project centers on a diverse group of detectives in a New York City police precinct.
Samberg will play the lead detective, while Braugher will play Captain Holt, described as a 30-year veteran of the New York City police force. Holt has finally gotten his own command and he’s not going to let anyone, especially Samberg’s character, mess it up.
And Terry Crews will play a character named Terry Jeffords, described as "the no-nonsense but father-like sergeant who runs the detective squad."
Brooklyn Nine-Nine will debut during the 2013-14 TV season.
And now for the bad news:
In addition to not renewing its freshman drama Deception for a new season, NBC announced that it's also passed on several new series, including the thriller, The Secret Lives Of Husbands And Wives, based on Josie Brown's book of the same name, which would've centered on a murder and the secrets and lies within a tightly woven group of three suburban couples and their families exposed in its aftermath.
Nicole Ari Parker and Jesse L. Martin were to play one-third of the 3 couples in the NBC drama pilot for the thriller, with Parker as the tough and trophy wife who, after twelve years of a troubled marriage, questions whether to stay with her husband (Martin) because of love or respect… all while having no idea that he is financially ruined.
The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced soap was also to star James Tupper, Laura Allen, Martin Henderson, Olivia Luccardi and Perrey Reeves.
And so it goes...
