Here are some new stills which surfaced late last week from the Brooklyn set of Brian Helgeland's Jackie Robinson biopic 42, which stars Chadwick Boseman in the titular role and Nicole Beharie as his wife Rachel Isum Robinson. The stills below are dated July 18; the film is now in post-production.

Warner Brothers' 42 also stars Harrison Ford in the role of Brooklyn Dodgers' manager Branch Rickey and Andre Holland in the role of Wendell Smith, the sportswriter who influenced Robinson's career.

The film will be released in theaters next year on April 15, 2013.

We posted some previous pics on the set of Birmingham, AL here, and on set in Macon, GA here.

I have to give it up to her, she looks gorgeous in the costuming. I'd love to know who's doing her wardrobe. Kerry Washington could've used their help in "Ray".

These pics have a great 1940's -50's Ebony magazine vibe to them. Looking forward to this movie!

    I like Nicole's imaging/wardrobe.

I am excited for this film. Nicole Beharie is so classy and talented. I haven't seen any of Chadwick films yet but I hear he is a good actor. Im looking forward to Anthony Mackie doing the Jessie Owens story too.

Love the photos. Very happy for Nicole Beharie. This project is something to look forward to.

Exactly. Now if Jackie was also the "first" Black pro baseball player to enjoy the joys of publicly acceptable filmic miscegenation there could not be ENUF pics of him and another sweetie strolling arm in arm.

@Blutopaz. His contempt for Black women could not be any more plainer. "...I have no interest in seeing any more snapshots of him and Rachel walking around, nor any more of Nicole posing as if she is being shot for a fashion magazine. It's cute - but enough already." Followed by that dissertation is the thesis on how Black woman is in cahoots with the White man in bringing a brutha down via cinema representation.

@ Laura-hilarious and transparent, isn't it?-lol. And the dissertation on How The Studly Black Male Cinematic Image Should Assert its Rightful Place to Enchant allllllll Women begins in 3...2....1.....

  • Laura | August 7, 2012 10:16 AM

@Blutopaz. LOL. I was thinking the same thing.

  • BluTopaz | August 7, 2012 9:04 AM

@ AV-perhaps if you pretend Nicole is White it won't bother you so much?

  • Vanessa Martinez | August 6, 2012 11:05 PM

@AV click on the first "here" link in the last sentence for pics of Boseman playing in uniform.

No way that Owens' movie is happening. Well, that's just my opinion. Chadwick does have a resemblance to Jackie Robinson I must say. But I would really like to see photos of him in uniform and preferably on a baseball diamond. I have no interest in seeing any more snapshots of him and Rachel walking around, nor any more of Nicole posing as if she is being shot for a fashion magazine. It's cute - but enough already. Happy that Andre Holland has a role. He should get more work.

Nicole looks amazing, and I'm looking forward to seeing this when it's released.
