We told you about this pilot back in March when the pilot was formerly known as Notorious...

NBC has picked up the renamed drama pilot Infamous, which stars Meagan Good and Laz Alonso. The Universal TV and BermanBraun's series, described as an "opulent soap," will star Good detective Joanna Locasto, who goes undercover as the housekeeper's daughter into the family she grew up in to investigate the murder of her childhood friend - celebutante Vivian Lawson.

Laz Alonso is slated to play NYPD detective Will Sacovitch, who recruits Good's character Johanna, his former flame, to team up in infiltrating the Lawson home and find the evidence of Vivian's murder.

The pilot was penned by Liz Heldens, and is directed by Peter Horton.

According to Deadline, Infamous was apparently a late bloomer; the drama was the last one to be picked up; although it built momentum since the time it was delivered.

This show was green lite to compete with Kerry Washington's show.

Lets hope it's a LONG fight.

Seems more in step with the CW's Ringer or ABC's Revenge: soapy intrigue. Let's not put ourselves in a box here.

Wow this is huge for Meagan looks like she is finally having her breakthrough in Hollywood. Think Like A Man was a huge hit and now she has her own television show on NBC!!

I love me some Ms. Good but there is something going on with her face that is starting to look Lil Kim-ish.

  • Eboni | May 14, 2012 5:38 PM

her skin is naturally flawless, but could it be the tattooed eyebrows?

I'm with you Jug! I'm happy about the concept and excited for Laz and Ms. Good!

  • misha | May 11, 2012 11:27 AM

"But I actually don't think a black woman with a black man is a turn off actually." >> It sure in the hell ain't to me! LOL But Kid Chaos be on this ish so I ain't studying him. :)

Carey, I wasn't thinking of that scripture but it does fall in line with what I'm saying. The interesting thing about having that type of "it's going to fail" thinking in your head is that, it really CAN'T get better because of those people that think that way. If a black person is the one running the network, you mean to tell me they shouldn't try out a show with a black relationship because of what they think people might refuse to see? I mean, where do you draw the line and when does it just become you holding yourself back. You can't even PRAISE the network for trying? But I'm sure you WILL complain if they cancel it when it has low ratings.

Ali, I don't know if you know this, but much of you coment speaks to a line of scripture. I know... I know... many folks run from anything that hints of "religion" but hear me out. There scripture that says "Call those things that are not, as if they already are". I believe both you and Jug's comment is saying such. also, there's another phrase in the same vain... "praise in public and correct or admonish in private". Of course both of those idioms/sayings/phrases are poo-pooed and dismissed as trite cliches, however, they work for many. Unfortunately, open comment forums are not the place to expect to hear the voice of "understanding" "gratefulness" nor "acceptance". Well, at least they will not be the loudest voices. Comment sections are the home of CONTROVERSY! And controversy sells like the wares of the oldest profession.

But if you know it's going to fail, why do we even try or give a shit? It's like Jug said, why even complain about injustices? If NBC is trying something that rarely happens, praise them and hope for the best. Don't just say "Oh, well it won't last" because, well, then it will NEVER get better. But I actually don't think a black woman with a black man is a turn off actually. If people accept the show(that's actually the difficult part), it won't matter who she's with. Think about it, people. Sticking with your own is what's considered the "right" thing to do to a lot of people. White people(from what I've seen) don't really have a problem with black marriages. If people like the show and the black lead is accepted, her relationship will just be normal to the audience. They've done okay in the past. It's success falls more on how it's marketed and how good it really is, I think.

Khaos, I hate to say it but you're right. A black couple on network television isn't going to pull in the crossover audience NBC is desperately seeking. smh

TOLDJ'ALL THAT THINK LIKE A MAN WOULD PAY DIVIDENDS! All of a sudden INFAMOUS shoots to the front of the pack for a pickup?! LOL Good for Megan & Laz & good for NBC stepping up!

  • Jug | May 11, 2012 12:04 PM

Misha you are too right! LOL

  • misha | May 11, 2012 11:23 AM

I suspect TLAM has a lot to do with it but let us not forget that NBC's primetime lineup is an absolute mess...NOT doing well in the ratings at all. I mean, they're getting beat by Univision in some categories. Yikes! That's certainly provides extra incentive to try something "new/different." And ya'll know they turn to us when they become desperate. LOL

  • Jug | May 10, 2012 6:41 PM

LOL Ray, I said nothing about staying on the air LOL But seriously, I'm optimistic. That pessimism shit is for the birds. If that's the case, why try, why care, why even complain about all the injustices & slights that we rage against all the time? When something of merit happens & it truly is not the "booby prize" or "tokenism" why down it?! Is our outlook on everything that bleak, that self-defeatist, that cynical? R U kidding me?! I think INFAMOUS could have a shot because REVENGE has done so well on ABC-we are in "screw the rich" environment right now. Cuba Gooding Jr's show GUILTY at Fox has a good chance of going too. And that show is HOUSE but with Cuba as an attorney actin' a fool. Andre Braugher's naval/political show LAST RESORT has a good chance at ABC-and that show is as testosterone as it gets on a network that decidedly skews female & white. I swear, you cannot make some folks happy!

I feel like Kid Chaos deep down, but I hope you're right Jug...
