House Call

Here's a new clip from the horror short House Call directed by Erik Wilson who has been a devoted follower of S & A from the very beginning who posts by the non-de-plume "Zeus"

The film, shot with the Red One digital camera, has already been getting great reviews such as from Dreadcentral.com which said that Wilson's film "did what few horror films do to me anymore: It made me uncomfortable" and Cinesploitation.com which said that Wilson’s "visceral vision looks slick and polished but doesn’t play to the mainstream “teen” horror crowd. He uses quick editing, wonderful camera work and effective lighting to set up the suspense and then bashes you over the head with surprising violence and gore."

"Let me just say it has enough to make horror fans happy. A creepy atmosphere set by the background music, and whispers from the mother. There is tension that leads to some scares, and an ample amount of blood spilled." --- horrosgoryreviews.blogspot.com ---------------------------------------------------"Where the film really shines is with the genuine scares that are delivered and an honest to goodness reliance on practical gore effects. I actually shed a tear. It was beautiful." --- planetofterror.com

‎"Believe it or not, this is the first film I've seen in years that succeeded in making me jump, that's how well the suspense is handled by writer/director Erik Wilson." --- deathblogtheblogthateatspeople.blogspot.com --------------------------------‎"House Call has a lot of positives going for it. I thought the acting was good and I really enjoyed the overall story of revenge and how they added a supernatural element to it. The special effects were also very well done." --- horrorsmorgasbord.blogspot.com ---------------------------------------"This movie was awesome! A murderous gf kills her abusive bf to be with her secret lover. But the horrors of supernatural black magic intervene. The production is slick! The acting and directing are superb. You will love the violent dark images in this film and the gore works and special effects are very professional. This movie gets 4 out of 5 coffins!!" --- StrictlySplatter.Com

"The tension is built wonderfully- a la the original 'Halloween', we are treated to jaunts down dark hallways, across closed doors and searching for the origin of the creepy sounds around the corner." --- mangledmatters.blogspot.com --------------------------- ‎"HOUSE CALL proves to be a tight, interesting, and terrific looking short film that capably shows off the skills of its cast and crew. Its short running time appropriately whets the appetite, and it certainly has me interested in seeing what Erik L. Wilson has up his sleeve next." --- dailygrindhouse.com

"A horror short by nature should have the viewer on the edge of their seat from start to finish, and House Call does just that." --- bloodsuckinggeek.com ---------- "In the grand tradition of EC Comic's Tales From The Crypt comes a new short horror film from Chicago based filmmaker, Erik L. Wilson." --- wizardofvestron.blogspot.com

"Visceral imagery and an eerie atmosphere combine superbly to create an excellent short movie." --- lairoffilth.blogspot.com ------------ " I think this movie serves it’s purpose; create a great story, establish characters, create dread, and have a memorable finish." --- funwithhorror.com ------------------ "A supernatural horror film with genuinely creepy moments and atmosphere for days, House Call has a little something for everyone--including sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll." --- midnitemedia.blogspot.com ------------------ "Overall I'd give this movie an 8 out of 10. I think horror fans will enjoy this short outing, though my imagination is going wild with theories on what a feature length production would be like, I think it does what it needs to do, it tells the story succinctly and I for one, enjoyed it." --- spitonyourtaste.blogspot.com

"The film was shot on the Red One camera, and it shows - the cinematography is excellent and the picture is beautiful. The short film also boasts a creepy, suspenseful vibe complete with exceptional makeup and special effects." --- maximumhorror.net -----------
"There are some slow wonderful moments of suspense when the anniversary of her husband’s death approaches. Viewers are led along in a Hitchcock style narrative, where they know more of what’s going on than the characters." --- 28dayslateranalysis.com -----------------
"The quality of this short is quite something, that along with decent acting, and a good direction makes an effective package and a well done spin on a traditional revenge story." --- therottingzombie.blogspot.com

‎"I mentioned before about the effects work both practical & special FX. For a short film they were above average, it kind of reminded me a bit of the FRIGHTNERS with some Sam Raimi thrown in." --- IGORSLAB.com -------- "A lot of preparation and care went into the making of this movie, that much is obvious. At times it feels slow and stiff, at times it's very exciting and turn-the-lights-on creepy. I can appreciate the film as it stands, but would really enjoy seeing it be made into a feature." --- shocktillyoudrop.com
