Originally thought to be heading straight to DVD land, cop action drama titled Freelancers, was supposed to be getting a limited theatrical release scheduled for, August 10th. But I don't believe that happened; at least, BoxOfficeMojo.com doesn't list the film at all. Unless it was just one screening in LA.

The film is now available on DVD & VOD.

Curtis "50 Cent" JacksonRobert De Niro and Forest Whitaker star in Freelancers, in which Fiddy plays the son of a slain NYPD officer who, with his two best friends, joins the Police Academy. After graduating, he's taken under the wing of his father's former partner, Captain Joe Sarcone (De Niro), and he becomes part of Sarcone's rogue task force.

Official synopsis reads:

The son of a slain NYPD officer joins the force, where he falls in with his father's former partner and a team of rogue cops. His new boss, Sarcone, will see if he has what it takes to be rogue through many trials and tribulations of loyalty, trust and respect. When the truth about his father's death is revealed, revenge takes over him, and he won't stop until justice has been truly served.

The film, which is co-produced by Jackson under the 10-picture, $200 million agreement that Jackson and his Cheetah Vision production company have with George Furla's Hedge Fund Film Partners, was directed by Jessy Terrero (Soul Plane).

Next up on the big screen for Fiddy, we'll see him with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Tomb, which is out next year.

Somebody call 911 because 50 cents just jacked me. That's right, I paid $1.29 at the Red Box to see this D-version of Training Day gone terribly ridiculous. I never thought I'd see Forrest Whitaker snoting dope, cavorting with tramps and getting his johnson sucked in the open daylight. If that wasn't enough to send this flick to "totally unbelievable land" how about 3 rookie police officers killing people in a dope house in which they (the rookie cops) were snoting dope and hanging out with a cavalcade of ho's. But wait, the nastiness doesn't stop there. 50 cents is seen giving head to a chick he met in a bar (she was the barmaid of a no-holds-barred cop bar). OH BOY! That just the tip of this training week (not Training day) gone mad. See, I'm sorry if I'm giving away too much of this thang but I'm trying to save others the pain of sitting through this madness. So look, Whitaker is the Training Officer and 50 cents is the trainee. But before fifty went to the academy, he had been busted for possesion of narcotics. Yeah, that's right. Him and his boys (the other rookies... they got busted together) were ex-felons... or something like that. YICKS! Let me stop before I call the police and demand somebody give me back my money. But wait, I bet y'all can't guess who gets killed in the wonderful fairytale? Times up... EVERYBODY!... including Robert De niro who I haven't even mentioned. But here's a tip about De niro, he was sort of like 50 cent's Godfather, who was also a dirty lowdown cop with connection to the BIG MAN. Yelp... FARCE 101.

Edit: One man does not die. But the movie WAS a mess. They must have shot this in one week... split the money and run. But if nothing else, y'all gotta see Whitaker TRYING to play the part of a cool, drug snoting, womanizing, drug dealing crooked cop. Listen, Whitaker is undoubtedly a great actor and so is Robert De niro. But in Deniro'a case, he can do just about any character, but I can't say the same for Forrest. Nope, a ladies man he can never be and being cool is a real stretch for him. But in the end, if this kind of film hits your sweet spot, then step right up. There's loads of naked ass (white & black), sex scenes mammy, drugs and drug deals, loads of cash, big guns and lots of killing. OH... and TWO BIG STARS! holla..

Why would DeNiro and Whitaker star is a low budget film like this? If the film only has a $20M budget, did $15M go to the 3 stars salaries?
