An Oversimplification Of Her Beauty

Variance Films has released a brand-spanking-new trailer (and poster) for Terence Nance's Gotham award-winning (Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You) work of film art, An Oversimplification Of Her Beauty, which will now open in limited release on April 26, and not the April 12 date that was previously announced.

Nance’s critically-acclaimed debut, which boasts Jay-ZWyatt CenacDream Hampton, and Joy Bryant as executive producers, was one of the most stylish, inventive, challenging, thoughtful and engaging films I saw at the Sundance Film Festival a year ago (read my review HERE if you haven't), so I'm pleased that it'll finally be seen by many more of you in about 3 weeks.

Also be sure to read Jasmin's wonderful Finding The New Black interview with director Terence Nance HERE.

Watch the new trailer below; you'll find the poster underneath:

this has to be the most motley assembly of EPs who have little to no EP experience. this film seems to be selling itself on its producers more than any actual hint of a plot synopsis.

Uh, no. Maybe you don't pay much attention to film marketing. It's no different than any celebrity who's ever put their name on a film to help sell it. It's called marketing. With these names attached it'll help the film reach an even wider audience, which any good film deserves. It's no different than Oprah and Tyler Perry doing the same thing for Precious or Quentin Tarantino doing the same thing for a bunch of films he's "presented," or Jonathan Demme doing the same thing for Gimme The Loot. So basically, this is nothing new.
