New Trailer for Black Superhero Doc 'Shaft or Sidney Poitier: Black Masculinity in Comic Books'

Shot, edited and produced by African American Studies professor Jonathan Gayles, Ph.D., SHAFT OR SIDNEY POITIER: The Emergence of Black Masculinity in Comic Books addresses more than forty years of representation of Black men in comic books.

Monique interviewed Professor Gayles on the film back in April, and recently, he released the below trailer giving a more in-depth look at the film.

The documentary has been touring the film festival circuit since 2010, and is currently seeking distribution.
