Producers of The Game are moving quickly to replace departing stars Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall.

Recall yesterday's news that Lauren London has joined the cast of BET's mega comedy hit show as a series regular, in its upcoming 6th season.

London's casting is intended to fill the void left by Mowry, and will play a character named Kiera, described as "a former child star who is currently appearing in a Cosby Show-esque sitcom."

Announced this afternoon, Pooch Hall's replacement will come in the form of relative newcomer Jay Ellis, who has joined the cast also as a series regular, playing a characeter named Blue, described as, "a running back and the No.1 draft pick from an Ivy League school who is highly educated and often the smartest person in the room. But even though he is bright, he is still a young man who has a lot to learn about life, love and himself."

Ellis' resume is full of bit parts in episodes of TV series like Grey's Anatomy, and The Bold And The Beautiful, as well as some short film work. A starring role in a hit TV series should up his profile a bit.

Meanwhile, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby BellHosea ChanchezBrandy Norwood and Barry A. Floyd will all be back next season.

I'm glad Lauren London will be Tia's replacement next season. This will be a good look for her career besides she haven't been in a lot of stuff except Madea's Bis Happy Family and Single Ladies on VH1.

My toe was already 1/2way out the do' on "The Game"--it's all the way out now. Out of sheer stubborness, I will not embrace him or Lauren London. Boooo!!

I think he is good-looking (not in the sexual god way a la Boris Kodjoe and the like) and hopefully he can act. I'm interested in seeing where they go with it. They seem intent on keeping the show on since they could have easily canceled after the leads bailed. So lets wait and see.

LOL@ "No. 1 draft pick from an Ivy League school."

  • Ghost | June 23, 2012 7:25 PM

I'm sure the Ivy League think has more to do with the recent trend of "success" guys from the league. Im sure they are going to hint that the school in question is Harvard since we have David Otunga (J Hud's hubbie in the WWE), Obama, the black basketball coach and Jeremy Lin.

  • Miles Ellison | June 23, 2012 12:21 AM

That's certainly hilarious to anyone that actually watches pro football.

  • Ray | June 22, 2012 11:35 PM

lol exactly.. i was thinking "WTF" they coulda at least made it USC or Stanford if they wanted a "smart guy" from a program that was respectable enough to possibly have a #1 draft pick.. aint no #1 pick coming from an Ivy... smh

The only problem with the was that it was centered around the which renders the story lines as realistic as basketball wives. As we see in real life their are not enough women being ran through on the show. It is too respectful towards women. Not saying that too prove Im sexist but how can we capture the lives of men who have easily slept with several hundreds of women by focusing on the few women that stay in their lives. So of the more impactful relationships last for only a moment.

Yea Malik does but it is not just the insecure fools raised by the single mothers. It is the Coaches Bobby Petrino, the legends Dion Sanders, the icons Tom Brady, and undrafted free agents screwing the wives of star players.

  • the black police | June 22, 2012 9:35 PM

Malik is suppoosed to take care of the misogyny.

  • Adam Scott Thompson | June 22, 2012 6:54 PMReply

BET is to "The Game" as "Pet Sematary" was to Church and Gage.

  • Lonny | June 22, 2012 6:43 PMReply

Kind of hoped they would just re-center the show around Brandy's character. Coby Bell is the funniest part of the show. Malik's dramatic storylines are misplaced. Lauren London is not that great of an actress in the films and tv appearances I've seen. She's kind of one -note.

@The Black Police: Jason Pitts isn't mixed. His parents were played by Charles Robinson (Mac from Night Court) and Lonette McKee when the show was on the CW.

  • the black police | June 23, 2012 1:38 PM

    Whoa! Thanks, sis.

  • Akimbo | June 23, 2012 12:11 PM

On the show, he's definitely black (two black parents). Don't know/never thought about real life. And I'm a lady, so I prefer "dude" to "bro."

  • the black police | June 23, 2012 12:11 AM

Wait he NOT mixed? O_O Are you sure bro? Even the actor? Wow now Im gonna question everything I thought I knew! *Off to research*

  • Akimbo | June 22, 2012 11:54 PM

He's not mixed, but yes, the whole "learning how to be black" thing was terrible and basically threw out everything we'd learned about the Jason character in the past. Completely unrealistic for a pro football player of any ethnicity to know so little about blackness. That being said, it seems like they're moving away from the Bryant Gumbel loves Shenaenae dynamic of the relationship, and just letting her be a regular chick and him, regular old Jason Pitts. Of course, it could all go out the window for next season.

  • the black police | June 22, 2012 9:34 PM

Ew, I dont like Brandy's character and storyline. The "ghetto chick"? And then shes with the mixed guy who apparaently has issues with his blackness. Trite! I really hope the show becomes WAY BETTER. The last two seaons were TERRIBLE.

  • Akimbo | June 22, 2012 7:29 PM

THIS. Coby Bell's Jason is the only consistently fun character on the show. That character, Tasha, and Malik used to do the heavy lifting before the show became a melodrama. Can't forget TT either. It would have been interesting to see Brandy be a bigger part of the show, but ah well. The Game as we knew it is looong gone anyway.
