Nickelodeon has ordered a second season of its hit family comedy for Nick at Nite and NickMom, Instant Mom, which stars Tia Mowry-Hardrictit was announced today by Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon's President of Content Development and Production.

In addition, the series has also been greenlit for six additional episodes to add to its first season, bringing the season total to 26 episodes.

The scripted half-hour series features Mowry-Hardrict as Stephanie, a party girl who trades in Cosmos for carpools when she marries Charlie (Michael Boatman), who already has three kids. The comedy follows Stephanie as she struggles to maintain some sense of her fun-loving, slightly irresponsible life while managing being a full-time stepmom.

Airing regularly on Nick at Nite Sundays at 8:30 pm (ET/PT), the series also airs on the adult-targeted NickMom comedy block on the Nick Jr. channel.

"In just a couple months since its debut, Instant Mom has resonated remarkably well with the Nick at Nite and NickMom audiences," said Hicks. "We're thrilled to witness its early success alongside See Dad Run and families enthusiastic about Tia and an undeniably charismatic cast."

Instant Mom continues to be a hit on Nick at Nite, drawing 1.2 million total viewers per episode, since its September 29 premiere. Additionally, the series launch on NickMom that same night was the block's highest-rated premiere ever in total viewers.

Sheryl Lee Ralph stars as Stephanie's mother Maggie, and rounding out the cast are Charlie's three kids played by Sydney Park, Tylen Jacob Williams and Damarr Calhoun.

Instant Mom is executive-produced by Howard Michael Gould and Aaron Kaplan.

Congrats to Tia! Love the show and those kids are adorable. Especially that little one. I agree with Bohemian Princess. I wish they would give Michael Boatman something to do even if they have to show him at his office. I remember wondering why they replaced Duane Martin with Michael Boatman but after seeing the show I get it. I think Duane would have been a little too slick for that character. Michael Boatman provides a level of squareness to the dad that I think is necessary for these types of shows to work. I could totally see Duane playing Michael's irresponsible brother.

INSTANT MOM is a great show, so I'm happy this show will get a second season.

I am happy for Tia. I just hope the network doesn't pull that bait and switch crap....build a network off of shows like this and then chuck all diversity once the network starts pulling in larger advertising revenue.

I actually like the show. I watched it on a whim and it's pretty funny. I just wish they would give Michael Boatman more to do.

Those numbers are better than what some of the CW's shows receive. Good for Tia.

I need a goody tooshoo for my second Screenplay I'm working on, but the Character will be anything but that. I'm leaning towards the other twin, Tamara. Listen at me, I still need to get my pinky toe in the door first. Wishful thinking, anywho. #January062014

I keep forgetting about all the shows I want to check out, and I am a long time fan of Tia & Tamara. I'm glad the show is doing great, but did anyone have any doubts, these girls seem to be money makers.
