A double-shot of Nicole Ari Parker today; earlier was the announcement that she's starring alongside Danny GloverGiancarlo Esposito and Sean Faris in what's being dubbed a "sexy, urban drama of the film noir genre" titled Burn.

And now this news...

Parker has been cast as a leads in the NBC drama pilot for the thriller, The Secret Lives Of Husbands And Wives, which centers on "a murder and the secrets and lies within a tightly woven group of three suburban couples and their families exposed in its aftermath," says Deadline.

Ms Parker will play Paula, half of one of the 3 couples, described as "a tough and strikingly beautiful trophy wife who, after twelve years of a troubled marriage, questions whether to stay with her husband because of love or respect… all while having no idea that he is financially ruined."

Parker joins the already-cast Perrey Reeves in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced soap.

Parker, who recently wrapped a lauded performance on Broadway in A Streetcar Named Desire, also has Vipaka, with Forest Whitaker, Sanaa Lathan and Anthony Mackie, coming up.

@ALM, SEE, SEE, I was not going to say it, but you hit it right on the head, Ava DuVernay Pulled out a awesome performance from Salli and showed us all that Salli has talent and range in a good role. We only saw a glimmer of it in Antone Fisher. And with that said, just think what she would do with Ari Nicole Parker. I am going to say this and maybe catch hell but I feel Ava will eclipse a lot of Black Filmmakers with her directing talents. A lot of decent films (Red Hook Summer) might have been elevated with it being directed by Ava. This is not a put down of Spike, I am just using him as an example. I dig Spike , but Ava DuVernay & Kasi Lemmons are just super talented!!!

First things first... Nicole Ari Parker is arguably one of the top 5 black actresses on the scene. Her range, poise and beauty is unmatched by the legends of today's black actors - period. At first glance, some might make the mistake of dismissing her as just another pretty face. However it has been proven that Nicole can do it all. She can do (and has done) serious drama, comedy and rom-coms... and do them all on an exceptional level. She has paid her dues (THAT'S FOR SURE) and worked opposite of and with the best including Terrence Howard, Isaiah Washington, Denzel, Blair Underwood, Martin Lawrence, Rockmond Dunbar, Salli Richardson-Whitfield... and many many many other leading black actors. If the writers of The Secret Lives Of Husbands And Wives are up to snuff and do their jobs, Nicole will kill this. That reminds me, I'll take Nicole Parker for any role, any day, for all the reasons I mentioned... over Kerry Washington, hands down.

Sounds like "Desperate Housewives", but good for her. I really like her, and goodness knows that her hubby isn't as hot in the streets as he used to be (Lifetime movies?!!!).

Ive never followed her career. I happened to be watching a rerun of series called the "Deep End", she did a really good job. I checked to see who she was and that's when I discovered it was her. She had on a long weave on the show, so I didn't recognize her. Well congrats to her.

I surely hope this is not another Desperate Housewives piece of crap.

Glad to hear that actress Nicole Ari Parker is getting some good parts. And after achieving an triumph over the role of the Broadway with "A Streetcar Named Desire" and now with a motion picture "Burn". Now with a television drama for NBC called "The Secret Lives Of Husbands And Wives". For a major director of this drama "Jerry Bruckheimer" this is pretty huge achievement for actress Nicole Ari Parker finally is moving up on the parts but couldn't happen any sooner for her.

Yeah!!! I agree with LeonRaymond. Nicole is a class act, a good actress, and enjoyable to watch in everything she's been in. She's worked really hard and is finally getting the respect she deserves in Hollywood. Congrats Nicole! We LOVE and support you!

Congrats to her! She works diligently to make a name for herself. She is stellar. I guess it's safe to say there won't be a London edition of A Streetcar Named Desire???...

I respect her very much-WHY? cause she has worked very hard to be more than the Pretty Black woman, she has put in the work on Broadway, off Broadway, Indie films and paid her dues and all the time her acting skills just got sharper, better, more pronounced. She is official and ready to work with the Viola Davis's and get that next hurdle of respect. She needs a film by Ava Duvernay , she needs to be in strong indie's with top notch A-list talent!!!

@ LeonRaymond. I agree with you about Nicole needing to work with Ava. I was just telling someone earlier this evening that Ava pulled acting skills out of Salli Richardson that I didn't even know that Salli had.
