According to the press release, Nicole Beharie will debut as Imani Morehouse on the October 16th episode of CBS The Good Wife. The new season premieres Sunday, September 25th at 9pm et. Here's more info on the episode:

Lisa Edelstein (“House”) and Harvey Fierstein (“Hairspray”) Guest Star
“Feeding The Rat” – Alicia takes on a pro bono case where the witness quickly becomes the prime suspect, but it’s Lockhart & Gardner that may be in the most jeopardy, as Will and Diane consider their futures and the firm’s direction, on “THE GOOD WIFE,” Sunday, Oct. 16 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Lisa Edelstein (“House”) returns as Celeste Serrano, Will’s ex, and Harvey Fierstein (“Hairspray”) guest stars as Judge Francis Flamm.

She is listed under "recurring cast." So.. I guess it's more than a guest role, well, hopefully. :)

Of course, I will provide more info as it becomes available.

    Imani Morehouse? I guess the writers wanted to make 100% sure we knew she was black.

    @ttenth You have inside info? If so, please share more. :)

    @BondGirl Hold your horses. I am not saying that Nicole shouldn't be doing tv. On the contrary, I was excited about her being on The Good Wife. Still, I was cautious because of how the show has chosen to utilize black characters/actors. And unfortunately, hearing that Nicole will play an attorney when the show is already underutilizing one beautiful and talented black actress doesn't ease my concern. So while it may be good for Nicole in diversifying her acting portfolio, I can't say (as a viewer) that I'm expecting to see her get the opportunity to shine. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised though.

    This is great news!

    One of the best shows on t.v....will certainly not hurt her career :)

    I agree with Kia. TV is excellent for a black actress's career. It gets her seen in front of millions more people, and networking with tv directors who usually make their way to film. Steven Spielberg, Michael Mann, JJ Abrams etc etc all were tv directors who cast tv stars that they worked with earlier. It's about building bricks...just like any other career. It's a win-win, why are you guys downing it all the time?

    You know how many white film stars are doing recurring and guest-starring roles these days?? Plenty. Everybody can't be Jennifer Aniston.

    @B and Misha

    I'm not sure what you'll's particular artistic focus lies(acting, writing, directing etc), however I'll have to disagree. I think it shows intelligence on Nicole's part. She seems to be diversifying her acting portfolio by stretching the range of "character types" she can portray vs what she's primarily been known for: the wholesome around the way or local good girl. As an emerging writer/producer that's an impressive quality. Biased as I am b/c I'm a fan of Nicole talent, but I see a character actress successfully in the making.

    Nicole is not replacing Renee.

    Noo! Damn, why are all these movie actors going the tv route? I guess they need a steady paycheck like anyone else. Can't knock that. But tv just does something to a lot of usurps all of their interesting attributes and boils them down to boring replicas, none of their actual talent gets utilized (as misha noted). I'm not too happy about this - but I'm glad she's found a steady paycheck and some exposure.

    Hmm...not sure how to feel about this. The show already has a recurring black actress playing an attorney in Renee Goldsberry and they've barely utilized her talent. Is Nicole "replacing" Renee? We shall see, I guess.
