The Mirror Boy, starring Genevieve Nnaji, Osita Iheme, Fatima Jabbe & introducing Edward Kagutuzi, the was the first Nollywood film to premiere at The Empire Liecester Sqaure, in London’s West End, earlier this year, is about to make history again on 10th June at Odeon cinemas across the UK.

The Mirror Boy is about a London born teenager of Gambian descent called Tijan (played by Kagutuzi) who is taken by his mother, Teema (Nnaji), to visit Gambia for the first time. At a crowded street market he suddenly becomes separated from his mother and soon finds himself lost in the African wilderness.

What starts of as a tale of urban inner city strife in London turns into a mystical journey in which Tijan, bewildered and confused, must find his way back. But first he must confront his deepest fears and embark on a journey of self-discovery, led by the enigmatic Mirror Boy (Iheme), a journey in which the lines between reality and fantasy, physical and spiritual become forever blurred.

Kagutuzi, already an AMAA (African Movie Academy Awards) winner for his role in the film, has also been nominated for Pan-African Actor Of The Year, and the film for Best Picture by The Nigeria Entertainment Awards, which takes place in New York in September.

In addition to its release in selected Odeon cinemas across the UK, The Mirror Boy will also be released in Gambia on 4th June, Ghana 17th June, and Nigeria on 24th June. There are no known US release dates as yet.

Below is a three part CNN feature on Genevieve Nnaji, top Nigerian actress and star of The Mirror Boy, who was described by Oprah as The African Julia Roberts. The interview aired on CNN’s African Voices in March this year, before the film's London West End premiere, and in she speaks about her life and her love for her work and her country, Nollywood and her future goals.
