Fundraising via Rucket Hub, the documentary House Music Movie is directed by Muema; who is the Founder of BounceFM.Com, a blog that supports house music. The feature length independent documentary film about house music, dance and global pop culture with a funding goal of $115,000, has been in the works for the last two years. Muema hopes the campaign funds will cover archival footage and final editing/post-production costs in time for a 2012 festival premiere.

Check out the interview with filmmaker Muema in this NY Timeout Interview. Watch the fundraising project video below the following campaign site information:

The Film

House Music Movie (working title) is a feature length independent documentary film about house music, dance and global pop culture. DJ’s, producers, remixers, dancers and fans discuss their careers and celebrity in this behind-the-scenes look at the house music industry.  Along with footage of house music in action, the film also captures candid conversations about house (also called electronic dance music) with authors, artists, club owners and cultural experts.

The Funding

This current $115,000 goal will get us through the crucial phase of finishing a rough cut with archival footage.  We have identified the archival footage we require to tell this story. We need approximately 15 to 18 minutes of this footage in order to tell the story accurately.

Any additional funding we receive over our $115,000 goal will go to additional post production expenses (Sound design, color correction, title and ending credit sequences), a robust film festival submission release and additional marketing for the film.

Join us on this journey.

With your continued contributions, we can reach the $115,000 mark and acquire the footage we need!

About RocketHub

1. RocketHub is not an investment or charity, nor a selling marketplace. It is an exchange: community startup funds  bartered for rewards from the steering team.

2. It's an All & More mechanism: if we don't reach our financial goal, we get to keep whatever was pledged. If we do reach it, we'll continue to raise as much as we can before the  days are over.

Funding Goals

Goal 1 | $115,000 | Acquire archival footage for completion of the rough cut.

How much research was put into a film called House Music when they mention places all over the world and didn't mention the home of House Music... CHICAGO. I will support this film only if it gives credit where credit is due

  • HouseMusicMovie | December 30, 2011 11:03 AM

@HouseHead4Eva - Thanks for your note. We acknowledge Chi town in the movie, we just haven't filmed in the Windy City - yet. With your help, we can get there. Thanks!

No Chicago?!!! Chicago is the birthplace of House Music! Huh?

  • SAM | January 2, 2012 8:13 AM

No, not just a significant role. To echo, it is the birthplace of house. Birthplace. I'm with HouseHead on this one. Having a difficult time understanding how Chicago wasn't the first place you looked. I've been around the world and I-I-I have never seen house music lovers like Chicago house music lovers.

  • HouseMusic Movie | December 29, 2011 9:25 PM

Thanks for reaching out. I understand both Chicago a played significant role in the growth and development of the global scene. However, the film is not a straight historical depiction of house music, rather it captures candid conversations about the music, the dance and the passion it inspires.

Due to budget limitations I have been unable to film in Chicago to date. Should you know of any sponsors that would be willing to fund a trip, I'll make it happen.
