Principal photography on Chris Rock's upcoming dramedy, Finally Famous, kicked off yesterday in NYC, and, of course, photographers (professional and amateur) were present to snap some shots of the available cast as they were shooting scenes.

Within this post, you'll find a few of those photos. Nothing special, but it gives you an early look at what these two actors (at least) will look like in the film.

In the film, Rock plays a comedian turned film star who, despite the expectations of his millions of fans, is determined to reinvent himself as a “serious” actor.

Rosario Dawson and Gabrielle Union co-star with Chris Rock in the movie, which he wrote and is directing, playing a feisty, funny, no-holds-barred journalist challenge (and potential love interest) for Rock's character, and his popular reality star fiancee (Union), respectively.

Kevin Hart, along with J.B. Smoove and Sherri Shepherd, also co-star in the movie, which Scott Rudin is producing (he also produced Chris Rock's Broadway debut, The Mother-F with the Hat).

Hart plays Rock's supportive Ivy League-educated agent; Smoove is Rock's "security guard-slash-assistant" who is never far from his boss' side (in the casting breakdown the character is described as: "a burly, very big and imposing African American guy who has a thing for big women"); and Shepherd plays Rock's ex-girlfriend from high school who still has a thing for him.

Finally Famous marks Rock's first time behind the camera as director since 2007's I Think I Love My Wife, which also saw him sandwiched between 2 beautiful women in Gina Torres and Kerry Washington.

Hey, wait a minute! Wasn't he also sandwiched between two women in the film he wrote, directed and starred in before that - 2003's Head Of State, with Tamala Jones and Robin Givens?

Three women and they're all emotionally entangled with the main character? This is just plain pitiful.

So basically the casting is as we predicted; brown skinned girl as angry, unlovable fiancée, while Latina gets the guy. Oh let's not forget the fat, black unlovable woman who can't keep chicken outta her mouth long enough to get a sexy Mandingo.

I don't care if this shit won an Oscar...PASS. Guess now I see why Rock made "Good Hair", instead of "Dark Girls".

I just can't disagree with any of this, Bondgirl and Blutopaz are right on the mark with this one.

ITA. And I love how Rosario's character is described as: "feisty, funny, no-holds-barred journalist challenge "- Flip it and she would just be the ABW with an effed up hairdo, not the love interest. And I'm sorry ya'll but I never got the Rosario hype, she just looks so masculine imo.

Sounds like a funny good time. I'll look out for it.
