Warner Bros. has scheduled Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim, which Idris Elba officially signed on to star in last week, for July 12th, 2013.

So, sorry ladies and gents, you'll have to wait another 2 years to see this one; it'll be interesting to see what future turns Elba's career takes between now and then. A lot can happen in 2 years!

As of right now, there aren't any other titles scheduled for release that weekend, to compete with Pacific Rim, though I'm sure that'll change before then. However, I should add that, the week after will see another big-budgeted summer movie released - Tom Cruise in a sci-fi adventure movie called Oblivion (worth noting, Elba replaced Cruise in Pacific Rim); and the week before, Despicable Me 2 will hit theaters.

You misspelled your headline. Sumer should be Summer.
