Bill Cosby has been around for a long, long time. In fact, this year marks his 50th anniversary in show business, and from the very beginnings of his career, Cosby has been deeply involved with television in one way or another.

Sit-com, dramas, TV commercials, guest appearnces, talk shows, Jello Pudding Pops - you name it, he's done it.

And starting today, until the first week of March, The Paley Center for Media, located in Manhattan and Beverly Hills, is honoring Cosby and his extraordinary career with an unique retrospective of his many and varied TV appearances from the late 60's to the 70's.

This is a valuable series of screenings especially for those Gen X-ers and Y-ers who only know Cosby from when they were kids because of his long running NBC sit-com from the mid-80's to the early 90's. By the time that show came around, Cosby had already been a 20-year-plus veteran of televison.

The NY Times TV critic Neil Genzlinger did a highlight reel of Cosby's TV work today with this disclaimer: "I’ll not dwell on his films, some of which were pretty bad, or his off-screen personality, or his occasional controversy-generating comments. Just his TV work. And no, I don’t count those pudding commercials as TV work."
