If African Satellite Installations (ASI) gets its way, starting next month, millions of South Africans will be able to tune in to Porn Satellite TV (PSat) at any time of the day for a dose of visual stimulation. But not if satellite broadcaster Top TV has anything to say about it.
According to iAfrica, TopTV wants to file a lawsuit against the new pornographic channel, accusing PSat of misrepresentation and abuse of the TopTV brand.
"If the launch goes ahead, South Africans will be able to hire an extra decoder and smart card for R99 a month to view the hardcore content. Viewers would then disconnect their TopTV decoder and plug in the Psat one.
John Solomon of ASI claims that TopTV has no grounds for a lawsuit. He also claimed that more than 2,500 interested parties had already contacted him."
This plan was only recently announced, and 2,500 folks are already trying to sign up for 24/7 porn?!! That's a lot of rand.
I predict that, in the end, money will talk and Top TV will balk. And South Africa shall get her freak on in 2012.
